Cat cam 421's / piper bp270's or kent cams

  172 CUP
Been looking into getting some cams for my 172 cup, mine allready has matched inlets,182 manifold, yozza exhaust and cda carbon airbox, custom remap by in-car-tech at 189bhp and 161 lfbt.
been searching loads on here and only seems to be a few posts on the piper cams or kent cams rn2004 just wondered what the verdict or possible reveiws from other peeps on here is
choice at the moment is -
1. cat cam 421's - 276deg inlet / 268deg exh
2. piper bp270 (re-Profiled) 278deg inlet / 270deg exh
or
3. kent cams rn2004 286deg inlet / 278deg exh

I am really not bothered about lumpy idle or poor running while driving around town / low rpm etc etc and i allready have a top man to do my remap so thats not an issue.I do plan on taking it around the track and day to day use,but as stated earlier lumpy idle and poor slow speed running is not a problem.

Thanks in advance guys.

421's dont run very well on the stock ecu mate, they can be made to work, but car is very poor around town at low rpms. 421's are designed for aftermarket management. I have 428's fitted, and sometime low down they are a little lumpy so 421's would be terrible. id reccomend the 428's, best of both worlds

Oh and id stick with new billet cams, not re profiled jobbies

If you still intend to run a pressure based plenum setup via the stock ECU then it's going to be quite unpleasant.

We're just finalising our cam profiles at the moment but will have two options on the market by the end of this month at circa £420 + VAT a pair machine from a billet.

is the main issue with 421's just idle / low rpm running as that wouldnt bother me to be honest,i did consider 428's but dont think i would be happy to comprimise, would rather just go all out or nothing,do you know anyone who may have tried piper or kent cams as there durations seem to be more aggresive than the cat cam range.
lumpy idle is nothing my last subaru sti was terrible but in a good way.lol

I wouldn't fit re-profiled cams. 421s are very good, but as said are tricky on the standard ECU. Planning on doing it though, as last time i saw it tried, the available control of the ECU was far less. I just need to buy a car lol

Only looked at piper re-profiles after there was a few good reviews on here about them and the price seems very good, but very werey of profiled cams myself, was just after peeps opinuns on those.Think my choice is really cat cams or kent cams but not many seem to of used kent cams on here.

Issue on the stock ECU is the lumpy map sensor signal. Remote mount it in a damped plenum and it's much more usable.

Your car is a bit of a Freak though Dave!!!! It's one of the strongest none port throttled cars I've ever seen :)

Generally 188 - 190bhp on 428's with matched inlets and no aircon compressor is about right.

Our ones. They'll be released with pre and posts on our dev 182 along with the usual info but as I'm sure understand I'm not going to post complete profile details on a public forum or everyone will be banging them out by next week!
