Russ_16v's ITB'd & Caged 182 Track Car (Was Crispy's)

  BMW Z4
Im keeping the 182 ABS on mine. Rainy night in a 24 hour with no ABS = off in my opinion. The rod that goes to the rear beam on mine, what does that do then? I broke the clip on it so have to get another one.

Providing its piped up correctly, then yes it will be fine. My Cup has done loads of laps of the 'Ring without problems + trackdays.

Yes it will be piped up the same way as standard cup, I just need to find out which ports on the master cylinder go to the front wheels and which ones go to the bias valve

  TrackCar & F30 330d
Why do you need one mate? Are you not doing a bias setup? ie. adjust how much goes front/back manually?

The usual plum in a manual bias valve like I was going to do doesn't work very well on clios. Burpspeed one did it and it allay had too much bias at the rears even tho the bias valve was set to send all the pressuse to the front.

So as the 172 cup set up works I'm going to just use that.

So my 182 will have a full 172 cup brake set up, but mine is going to be neater :)

That little bar is what levels out the xeons lights when there is more weight in the boot, it's so you don't blind oncoming cars if you've got a dead body in you boot lol. The little bit that connects to the beam had broken on mine but it was cable tied on and it worked fine. What lights are you going to be running?

  BMW Z4
Ah cheers Chris. Hmm lights. I guess keep my standard ones unless there is a better option and have a light bar that clips on the bonnet for night sessions, I saw a nice one for about 600 quid with 4 pods in it.

Don't need to think about that now though as we are planning on doing Dubai 24 hour in Jan 2013 so that gives me a year and a half to get the car done and get everyone on the right licenses and also with some much needed race time in TDT this year and a full season next. I certainly do NOT want to race against and alongside million pound SLS's with no experience LOL.

Planning on selling maybe two seats for this, 3 core drivers and sell two seats. Cost will include flight and 5 star catering daily at the track plus of course the drive :) I might do two prices with one all in including accomo and one where you get accomo yourself.

Yeh cheers Tony and I will. As you say early days but that's our plan. Gives us plenty of time to get the car right and also actually enjoy getting the car right because we have plenty of time!! Dubai is Way cheaper for fuel and tires and the entry fee covers shipping too and well it's Dubai in a balmy January mmm

PS
LOTS of sexy pit girls after looking at this years website :)

if you wanna do the dubai 24h i can hook you up with a car here you could rent the boys that are building my car have a 172 cup they rent out and a BMW 1 series diesel they rent. and they run another 192 cup and a couple of civics.

was going through the costs today with them to get my car in next seasons UAE touring car championship.

Would me, a large part of the challenge for me is the joy of having built something and knowing every nut and bolt and then keeping it going for 24 hours. Early endurance was ALL about that, it was engineers in overalls putting their skills against other engineers. I shall have to get myself some white overalls a flat cap and a pipe.

  TrackCar & F30 330d
Dont think that would bother me,I'll drive anything.

But spending all that time building your own one and then not even racing it. Maybe after racing the car you've built 1st and then racing other cars after would be fine for me.

I just can't wait to drive mine!!!

UPDATE :)

Took loads of picture this time so bare with me!

Right so first thing i did the other day was to remove the Radiator so i could fit the slim fan. After hearing that the fan fitting kits were pretty poo i decided to put bolts through the rad so the fan would stay put and not fall off when smashing the car over curbs at trackdays :)

Fitted back to the car

IMG_5068.jpg

IMG_5067.jpg

Next thing to do was to enlarge the Tow strap hole so my new bolt would fit through

Enlarged one on the left

IMG_5064.jpg

Bolt through the standard place

IMG_5061.jpg

I had trimmed a little bit behind the towing hole so i could get the bolt on

So it looks like this now

IMG_5066.jpg

IMG_5065.jpg

I then just needed to trim the grill so the strap could reach through

Few holes drilled

IMG_5095.jpg

And then cut the rest out.

IMG_5096.jpg

Done :)

IMG_5097.jpg

Bought a 60mm hole saw the other day and attacked the front bumper

So before

IMG_5051.jpg

Starded off with one in the middle

IMG_5055.jpg

Then did a bit more

IMG_5056.jpg

And then all finished and back on the car

IMG_5098.jpg

IMG_5099.jpg

Next I started to fit my new Forge Silicon coolant hoses

Old

IMG_5071.jpg

New

IMG_5069.jpg

Bought stainless steel hose clips too :)

So i refitted the hard pipe

IMG_5072.jpg

And started to fit the rest of the pipes

IMG_5074.jpg

As i dont run the heater matrix i bought a 180 deg 19mm bend as the old coolant pipes used to kink when trying to just bodge it on.

So new pipe and and measured where to cut the forge pipe

IMG_5075.jpg

Trimmed it

IMG_5078.jpg

And used an old piece of pipe to connect them

IMG_5079.jpg

All connected up, just need more hose clips

IMG_5081.jpg

So thats the engine done for now

IMG_5083.jpg

IMG_5085.jpg

I then fitted my new motorsport rear view mirror which mounts onto the roll cage.

IMG_5091.jpg

It was so tight getting it to fit because the roll cage nearly touches the roof in the place i wanted to put it.

IMG_5093.jpg

IMG_5094.jpg

Its really good because you can see out of the rear window and rear 1/4 windows so i would have tought it will be good when i eventually go racing :)

Last thing i did that day was to measure where all the sensors are for the new engine loom so i'm going to build that next week

More soon :)

It's like a showroom race car, everything so clean at the minute. You'll look back after a few trackdays and wonder how it was ever this nice :)

This thread just keeps getting better and better.

This car is almost too perfect, it really is a work of art right now. :)

Nice as always chris. You may as well cut the whole number plate bit out now. Holes are to messy by your standards ;) plus the additional cooling would help.

It is very nice and clean now but it needs new engine and gearbox oil, new coolant and a fresh load of brake fluid so I suspect I'll spill them all everywhere knowing my luck!

Painted the wing mirrors aswell.... Can you guess what colour????
