Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Im hoping its to address the lag, hit detection and the terrible spawning but I reckon its just for the recent hacks!
 
Does anyone have any decent links to technical discussion on net code? I'm aware that it is possible to program software to have a certain tolerance and compensation for network lag, so I'd really like to know what it is that has apparently been broken with this game? For sure we can say that P2P connections is probably a massive factor, but AFAIK it's not the first CoD game to use this method. Do the PC users (who benefit from dedicated servers) also have the same issues?

Not trolling. Genuinely interested to learn more. All I see here is constant moaning about lag, so perhaps we should use this thread to gain a greater understanding? Is it REALLY the game? Can they REALLY patch network lag? If so, why did they break it to begin with? Possibly questions that wont be answered, but a whole lot more interesting than the constant complaining.
 
Maybe it's an instance where there are too many players on in which they underestimated. Wasn't there like 3.3 million unique players for MW 3 compared to black ops 2.6 million?
The issue may not be game issue but something to do with the servers handling the game?

Interesting. When I used to host PC matches (back in the day), it was always preferable to have the most powerful machine out of everyone playing with you, as you basically had to also run a server in the background. This server was not handling graphics. Purely data for all the players. If the same principle applies to these newer P2P console games, then maybe this game is pushing the hardware too much, and the host is causing issues due to hosting and playing on the same machine?
 
If Sandy Ravage is moaning about the lag then it must be bad. He is also in Yanky land and its normally them lot that bring the lag!

Hate it.

Maps are terrible IMO.
Spawns are terrible IMO.
Lag is terrible IMO.

Fed up of being shot round corners, nailing a whole round into someone for them to just kill me instantly.

Beast! I take you play on pc as well as ps3?

I am happy with game, yeah lag can be an issue but not found it affected me to much, do wish there was an open map like say wasteland but maybe something will come out on mappacks in due course.
 
Ok it's prob been posted already, but where's cheapest place to get this on PS3? ta

Nope, Dont play on pc, Just xbox and ps3 :)
 
Actually did think the game was s**t last night. Went on a couple times and played about 10-15 mins before sacking it off. Spawning is s**t. Was really struggling to get more than 2-3 kills in a row and most of the time it's because some dick gets planted behind me and I've got no chance. There's still a f**k load of camping that goes on but maybe that's more on hardcore due to the lack of killcam.

There's also only a handful of maps I actually like too.

Part of the problem is the fact I'm loving Football Manager too much though I think and not really putting enough time in to COD. I'll try have a good session later and see how we go.

Im quite liking that gun too.

Managed to get into a few games recently and actually been able to play without lag. Managed a couple of 30+ kills to 4 deaths.

Still having major issues with lag when someone on my team brings in air support it seems.
 
P90 is swiftly becoming my favourite

although the type 95 is pretty handy too, for when I dont want to just run everywhere! 3-shot burst is full of death-win
 
I'm getting loads of random messages calling me a cheat because I'm using the type 95 lol
 
When was this new patch out? Played last night but don't think I downloaded a patch? Searching on twitter about it and people saying lag is worse lol.

Just downloaded it, instead of normal lag I'm now getting massive pause lag. Awesome.
