This is looking damn nice dude! Looks like a lot of knowledge and hard work went into this, and I'm guessing a fair few of Her Majesty's notes.
Anyhoo. Few questions here since I'm after a lot of info before lowering my dci:
1) Very nice drop, how far down is it? Is it practical with speed bumps and bumpy roads?
2) Have you replaced the shocks/dampers?
3) Which brands were the good springs and the s**t ones, and what was the difference in the price and ride quality?

Thanks :)

Cheers :)

It's on some koni springs, I wanted cooksport springs but were out of stock, and I'm kind of glad as I prefer how these sit.

I've always had lowered cars, and the clio rides okay for a lowered car, you can feel the road, but it's not crashy, don't feel a lot worse than standard. No issues with speed bumps, although my front splitter has been mashed by my sloped drive and other such heavily sloped surfaces.

I changed the shocks when fitting the wide track stuff as they are 172 cup shocks.

If you're not wanting it as low as mine, and want it to handle well etc, get cooksports, they are fine on dci's as they weigh similar to sports.

Only one more thing, avoid APEX. Search the forum and you'll see why.

Sound. I've heard mixed reviews on Apex, but if they can be that bad I'll steer clear. Where does one acquire a set of Cooksports? I'm only looking to drop 30-45mm, maybe 50 tops if I don't have to shell out more money for shocks.

Traders section, might have to be a paid member to view though?'

Im pretty sure they don't drop that much though. Have a look.

Finally located side strips, Not so many 172 bits left to find/buy now.

Better pics when I eventually wash it.

Also, while fixing tweeter rattle the other day, I did something I forgot to do when I did the LED conversion. Wired the illumination up to ign live, so even during the day without headlights on the dials are illuminated, like a modern car, good for under shadows etc.
This pic, while at night, was taken with no lights on at all.

Unsure what or when the next update will be, Most likely Trax or Castle Combe.

Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be!

Ended up reading the full thread, thats on nearly 160k?! I would never have thought that, credit to you!

Also fwiw, 5 spokes suit it better than the turinis imo.

Take it you stay close to Dan then? Sorry to hear it ;)

  Many.
Cheers guys.

I doubt I'll buy Turini's, I like it, but unsure really. I think I'll just refurb the 172's, poss in grey.

John, Its just clicked over 158k yesterday, It was well looked after by the previous owner, and I've sort of kept that going, just gets driven hard!

Reasonably close to dan lol, After I do Castle Combe (14th) There should hopefully be an update to show the last lot of stuff I got from Dans old 172.

In preperation for Trax last weekend I finally serviced the car, Had been planing to do it for about a week, Well under-due at only 8k miles since the previous service, but it keeps it mint!

Lets hope I don't bin it on track!

  Yozza'd Titanium 182
looks lovley... cup racer tow eye would be a nice touch... also a massive upgrade with looks sweet in to have your interior a pillars and hand break cover wrapped in alcantara...
message Austin182 he does a spot on job

  Many.
Cheers bud. I kinda like the tow eyes, but not so sure.

Already have alcantara covered trims in the car, Just need to find time to do the head lining like I've been planning to for ages!

I was gonna send you a rude message, I had my diag thingy in my car, so woulda happily walked over to your car!

I was on the Weekend Racer stand, was next to the Cliosport stand, but not on the grass, we don't do grass!

  Many.
Needs a bit more spacing on the rear for me :)

Its on the cards, I need to roll the rear arches, but I have the spacers etc here waiting! I agree the rear wheels need to stick out to at least come close to how the front sits.

Didn't realise you were up there fella. Me and Tonka were there!

I knew Tonka was there, Tried to meet up with him all day but just didn't get together! Didn't know you was there mind!

Haha! Didn't take my car in the end, as I still haven't cleaned it. Will have to sort the airbag thing soon when I get a chance, still haven't tried what we spoke about to busy working :(

Ah fair enough. And what you on about? You'll never clean it!
Yeah, If not I'll find time to pop up!

Picked up some Xenons the other day, took a lot of work and f**king about to actually be able to use them, but they are on, and work.

So got a couple of pics..

null_zps7b36b9de.jpg

Still lots more to do to it, More soon!

Looks mint mate, will surely be looking towards yours for some inspiration!

Picked up my xenons yesterday and going to get them on next week, a pig of a job then?

  Many.
Piss easy job mate, but these had been fucked with. Yours will be a easy case of remove old, fit new. Don't even need to completely remove bumper.

  Many.
I use my car too hard to have it too close, but what I really mean is I have the spacers here already, I just need the archs rolled to clear properly. Will worry about that in the very distant future.

Another update..

Yesterday, started like this...

null_zpsf70a6f93.jpg

Few moments later...
null_zpse6ce53fd.jpg

Even later

And then very late that night...
null_zps96c3f72a.jpg

The purpose of this is to fit Climate control, and cruise control, I had already retrofitted Aircon a couple of months back, setup like a old car without a UCH. But now converting everything to run Climate.

Got most of it fitted up today, poor pic
null_zps57462739.jpg

Then started on the dash...
null_zpsc47e4044.jpg

Thats the last picture I got as I just got on with it. Whole lot is swapped now, Just minor issues to sort. I need to swap the blower motor, fit resistor (when I've bought one!), and then solve the lack of illumination to the Climate panel, and a weird problem with flashing dash lights, assumed to be a dodgy earth.

Will add another update over the next couple of days showing the final product, but you all know what standard Cruise and Climate looks like!

Til next time...
