172CUP SUMMER INTERIOR ROASTING HOT TIPS?

  RS Clio Cup172
I've had the car since day one and it never ceases to amaze me just how hot the interior gets - has anyone made any mods to increase heating insulation ?

I want to drive into Europe for a road trip but may have to wait until september october :/ to survive melting away -

You’ve had the car 20+ years and now you want to do something about it 😂

Surely insulation will make it hotter rather than colder. Just get a sun shade for when you aren’t using it if you insist on reducing cabin temps. And as above when you are mooching about.

I didn’t have an issue in my old one which I used daily, it was a bit stuffy but once a breeze had gotten through it, it was ok. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Park in the shade if possible, fold seats, leave windows slightly open, use sun shade. I have a 172 without AC but I am Greek and used to it at this point.

The car has low levels of heat shield insulations so the heat from the engine and exhaust warm the car & we know the engines huge for the size of the car.
I use my other car with air con so I think going back to the cup it's a sweatbox on the heatwave days and stuck in london traffic jams.

I ended up clicking the bonnet catch to let some more air free flow once off the motorway and it was really effective (only around 30 mph speeds)

I’ve had less hot dinners than the amount of Clio’s I’ve seen with rippled roofs due to the latch failing.
Thats my biggest fear on a clio, latch failing and bonnet doing the roof/screen in.

No way would i be running about with the bonnet on the safety. Crazy taking the risk, prob placebo anyway.

I’m even more wary now as I have just had a brand new OEM Cup screen put in at quite an expense so would be gutted if the bonnet put it through.

i work as a tech for Bentley and Lamborghini and some of the customers add to their cars some ppf film but with uv protection and it reduces the temps inside the vehicle , tested my self on some of them and compared to a stock vehicle is not that hot ( i live in Romania and temp here in the summer go beyond 40 + ) .

Drive in your underpants. Failing that it's blowers on 3 and windows open. My old 309 GTi had a lever next to the handbrake which cracked open the rear windows. It was perfect for hot days. For engine cooling I fitted grills into the bonnet on my old 1982 XR3i when I was young and foolish.
