    speedo cable

There are different speedo housings that go in the gearbox itself, trouble is these are sealed units and need the gearbox out to put it right. It is his fault for not checking, still at least you wont put any miles on your car!

    over revving

Yip, it sounds like it is the sensor in the gearbox that is shafted. Is your speedo still working?? Cause they often go hand in hand. It is only when you have been driving hardish though, if you take it steady then it will stay at 1K. Also if you are in a jam it will reduce slowly to 1K after...

16v Enigine Noise - help appreciated.

The bearings in your cambelt tensioners might have gone? Pretty common problem, but the garage will sort it.

    spedo problemo

The ones on the valver and willy are spindles in the gearbox and are a sealed unit, the only way to replace this is to over haul your box. The idling messes up because it also has a sensor in there so when you go over a certain speed or revs it will stay at about 1200-1300 rpm.

    Strut brace

But surely thats a localised warranty, so if the rust was on the door then they cant say it was caused by the strut brace.

    Williams paintwork...

Put a heatgun onto it or hairdryer (be gentle) then they just peel off, and to remove the glue the best thing to do is to dip a rag into some petrol and wipe it away.

    Strut brace

Having the mounting of the strut brace onto the threads will put a large amount of bending into the threads and you run the possibility of them snapping. Either drill holes into your chassis or dont have them at all!!

    k-tec brakes

Modern day brakes shouldnt need bedding in. The sound may be because they are drilled and it is the effect the holes are having on the pads. If you are still stopping OK then it shouldnt be a major problem.

    Locking Wheel nuts...

MCGUARDS!!!! The dogs danglies. I got them on mine, and a few months ago I bent the adapter cause it wasnt seated properly...but no worries..posted it back to Germany and they sent me a new one FOC!!! Top in Auto Express as well. A handy way to get those nasty Renaults ones off when the pins...

    Rear seat removal

Without actually having a 172 myself, I would of thought there is some release mechanism at the side of the backrests where they mount to the car, either be it by bolt or a release lever. The centre split should have a bar that runs the full length of the seat so this should be OK. Hope that helps

making a neon sign - fabric needed

Assuming I am working to the maximum size of it replacing the parcel shelf, then I have got a bit to cover it. The material is a 10mm thick acrylic so it should be plenty srong enough for that type of size, it has a special optical coating that is flow-coated onto one surface that diffuses the...

    Too hot to handle

The scoop on your bonnet channels air down to the manifold to keep it quite cool, the only way to ensure some decent cool air to your induction kit is either to put a big feed from your bumper or to get rid of it altogether and put your original air box back on.

    williams/16v Suspension help

Simialr problem for me too. Wanted to uprate the springs on my car but could only find lowered ones! Obviously lowering the car would completly upset the balance/handling of it so I phoned Demon Tweeks and they got hold of some springs from Germany for me. They are the same length but slightly...

Probably not, but you might be able to fabricate an adapter plate. The ratios are very similar though so I dont really see the need to swap!

    Clio 16v transmission help

To be perfectly honest there doesnt seem to be anything much wrong. All wheels rotate when off the floor and out of gear, the inertia of the engine and transmission make them, if you want to stop them then just chock them, no big deal. As for the drive shafts, theyre meant to transmit all the...

making a neon sign - fabric needed

Any material placed above any light source will spread the light, as by definition it is a diffusing surface. The trick is to choose the correct diffusing surface. How big is the sheet of material going to be?? And more importantly, is the diffusing material going to be used outside or...

What holes?? I have an OMP strut brace on my willy and the only thing you have to do is use the plate provided to lower your ignition coil. Then you place the brace around your suspension mounts and use the self tappers to hold it in place. You might wanna consider making some pilot holes to...

    williams or 306 Gti6

Ahh come on are you a driver or what?? Its lighter, faster and in my opinion far more desireable, you dont get the middle aged housewifes bored out of their tree popping down to Sainsburys in a Rallye do ya?? I drive my Williams every day but when I drove the Rallye it just handles sooo much...
