just so people know ho was reading this thread, and for future ref;
i took apart the left hand drive today, and found the problem! it turned out to be the inner cv type joint, the one that fits into the dif on the gearbox. what happened was the white plastic ring thats ment to be positioned in...
i wouldnt buy it either. learner cars are normally always screwed, thats why the change them every 6 months! people sliping the clutch, smaing the gears, hitting the curb (knocks ball joints out). i wouldnt touch it, it will cost you more in the long run.
hi all! iv still got this problem! someone suggested the cv joints/driveshaft. im going o jack up car today, just wondering if anyone knows how to check it correctly?
what do you mean by "the box"? iv just been out in the pourin rain and did some tests;
1. check wheel is boltted on tight = yes, all ok
2. check rubber gaiter = yes, seems to be all ok
3. check shaft for movement = if i push/pull it st8 it moves about 1mm (and makes slight tonk). if i push/pull...
So iv just got the engine working. most people are telling me not to worry aboutt the noise coming from the water pump. so im happy with that for now.
BUTTTTTTT.....guess what? IV GOT ANOTHER PROBLEM!!!!!
now theres a clonking noise coming from the fron of the car. it sounds like diff/cv to...
iv put a new water pump in, and it dosnt work off aux belt, it works off cam belt!! aux belt only drives the alternator. wont my engine screw up if i run it without the alt? its has a ingnition module, so it need lots of power to work!
yes the noise does change when i rev engine (and cars not moving) it get slightly higher pitched.
does that still sound like aux belt then?! is it to tight or to slack?
what also helps (and will stop you leek), is if you put some black plumbing selent around the sunroof outer edge (where the plastic meets the metal). you can really see it, and works a treat!
check battery connection, sometimes they come loose (the dash light still work tho). also, put the key in, try and start, if it dont work, take key out and do it again. mine did it once, it was the spring in the barral sticking, doing it several times made it work. do oyu her any clicking at all?
on the aux belt, only the alt. on the cam belt; water pump & tensioner, thats it.
Ross16V - whats yours sound like? maybe we do have same fault.
i drove it 50miles 2day, and the noise is still there, however its not any worse. its like the sound a washing machine makes when it spins and you...
^^ no dont think so lol. alot of the clios do it, if you do a search on the web, you'll find loads of people with same problem, however renault dont class it as a problem. mine does it most of the time, but more just after a night of rain. i shouldnt worry about it!
