Thats the primary reason you DONT drive with your hand on your knob whilst in gear.
Your pushing on the linkage and the selector fingers are pushing he gear against the synchro, wearing them.
Use the same one you have fitted already.
2 different head castings where on CTS is tapped into the the head direct and one fits into the thermo housing.
If your not taking the engine out then you cant time the engine via the normal max lift @ TDC.
I dont like that method anway and much prefer the idiot proof lift on overlap method since you dont have to play with the TDC posisiton and crank.
And you dont need a chip to run mild cams...
