Folk on this forum are obsessed with anything to do with the intake systems on 172's / 182's
Loads more areas to concentrate on with out p****** about with 1- 2bhp gains ..
....plus no real performance gain unlike the Maxogen :S
You wont find a better IK than a Maxogen in terms of build. Performance is only slightly better than a Viper (from my experience which both were set up fuelling wise after fitting)
Key factor is that no matter what IK you buy, if its...
Just put a piece of black tape covering the bulb hole between the circit board and the gauge plate.
Its totally hidden and if you wanted you could just unpeel it without damaging the light :)
I put a mini guide up on here a while back.
Unbolting / blocking / plugging the lamda holes...
I have corrosion on the roof of my ph1 172 too !! Not actually rusted through as yet but my roof is littered with surface bubbles!
As there's a 12 years anti corrosion warranty iv never bothered and was only gonna do so when it got too bad.
Last month when my car was in for work at a...
Does the fact iv had 2 sets of door stays in 90 thousand miles mean the doors have a design fault??
Only had one spring failure on the TB at 60 thousand miles and the cars done 97 thousand now. Id personally class that as wear and tare rather than a outright design fault.
They never came out the factory like this so its not a design fault as such
Lots of things can cause poor idling but the more common is the TB return spring becoming worn with age and use
Apex arnt that hard, its just some folk are pansies ;)
Iv turned the Konis up a notch because the suspension felt too soft with the Apex and im not a 'boy racer' either ! lol
Not really conclusive that mate as youve reduced the amount of air that can be sucked in by using a smaller IK. Fairly obvious that would choke it up a fair amount :)
The only way you'll get a drop from fitting a induction kit is heat soak.
If its on a proper rolling road you wont get that due to the fan cooling the engine.
Lots of info missing from the guy who put this topic up
I was well impressed with the Viper i had
Probably just needs tightning up
4 torx bolts under the centre section to drop the heat shield down, then tighten the 13mm bolt to desired position, job done
