Main reason why 182's and mk2 172's like GDI replace the TB for a cable type is because there's a delay with the throttle with the electronic fly by wire system. With owning a mk1 172 you dont need to worry about that as you already run a cable set up
Idle on mine can be a bit dodgy at times too with the cams. Most times fine sometimes truely horrid till warmed up.
Is the MAP sensor on a Clio a poor one as in it has a low range of tolerance ??
The throttle body springs wear out just as much as the cables if not more so and the fact that he's already replaced the cable and it was fine for a few days points to it being the spring (imo)
Quick check over the TB and cable when its reving up will identify the problem area
Cable would have to be pretty rubbered to cause it to stick open so a quick look will confirm for it fraying.
My guess would be the common ph1 172 problem of the Throttle Body spring becoming baggy.
Not from Renault, you have to get the whole unit
There are places that will do you a spring but then how will you know the required tention? what about the exact OE size? (old one will be baggy remember) etc etc
Easier just to buy a new throttle body
What type of mapping are you wanting?
Simple generic chip / map? Piggy back ? Stand alone ? ECU ?
Yeah avoid Dastek. They tried to con me a few years back the robbing gypsie scum bags
Star Performance are good but i doubt they'd touch a Clio like whats been said plus you want...
All you need is a link pipe, basically a decat. If you want to keep it legal the best bet would be to take a cat from another car and mod the flangers to fit.
Sure Vauxhall cats are meant to be pretty short so one of those might be ok length wise.
Not sure if you can buy replacement springs for them. Certainly not through Renault anyway.
About 200 notes gets you a brand new throttle body. Very easy to take off too
Its actually bloody good stuff for cleaning oil and crap regardless if you have a carb or not.
Mate, buy a Haynes manual. Be miles easier than trying to explain it :)
Got a couple of mobile phone questions. My old trusty D500 died on New Years eve so its new phone time.
Can anyone recommend a decent phone for under 200 quid?
Gilfriends saying a Sony Ericsson X810i although its not listed on the Orange website (the network im on)
Quite like the look of...
Funny thing is i bet all the folk who are moaning about this lad shouldnt be able to have a 172 due to not being able to afford his insurance in the conventional way are the same folk who dip into their overdrafts then moan when they get bank charges ;)
Its exactly the same principle
No no thats not the point i was making fella.
I cant blame any 17 year old wanting to own a fast car. Weve all been there.
Half the population of new drivers go on their folks policys whether it be for a 1.2 Fiesta or a 300 bhp Cossie so why do folk have a problem with it?
It just...
There's a difference between cant afford and saving money.
Half the folk i know go on their folks policys to save cash right or wrong. Its part of life, deal with it ..
Cams inlets ecu etc make a very big difference but your a fair old trek from GDI for any possible needed after care as i found to my cost, although mine was a home brew package and a few years back.
What would have been a simple 2 minute sensor check turned out to be days of stress and expense...
Dosent work.
It dosent matter what you do, in 99% of cases the light will always eventually come back on even when youve had it defaulted
I stuck a piece of insulating tape between the light and clock face. You have to take the dash top off in clocks out but its well worth it!
Totally...
I overtook my mates with suprising ease off a roundabout and on to a duel section.
His was pretty standard, IK and zorst. Mine had cams, inlet IK but i was running a blown SMT6 which was rolling roaded at 180bhp at the time.
It wasnt just the manifold that gave the 182 a '10 bhp' gain. Also had other tweeks here and there but the manifold was the major component thats why no one should really be expecting a 10 bhp increase from just bolting on a 182 mani.
To get the best or to make the difference vs modded out of this driver tuition he would have to be somewhere near the limit or certainly over the speed limits.
Anyone can point and squirt up to a point. Its behond that that sorts the men from the boys, the inexperience vs the experienced...
