You guys would love it down here in Australia, especially in Victoria.
At least those vans are white with reflective markings and pics of cameras on them. Here they are unmarked camera cars - as in regular SUV or estate. About the only visual clue you get is that they are usually parked on...
Apologies for the thread hijack but thought I might post this here as sounds very similar.
I had a flashing EML today for about 5secs or so and then went off by itself, but when I checked for a fault code with RSTuner there were no codes listed. I did the self diagnostic trick and it showed a...
Never had a problem with standard wheel bolts coming loose on trackdays, always torqued to 105Nm as well.
I find these things make changing/mounting wheels a bit easier though...
Fit Bilstein B14s and either set them to a height that doesn't compromise the rollcentres or set them lower and fit a rollcentre correction kit. A set of decent tyres and you're done.
Actually, just found this website where you can get a set of 4 caps for about 6 quid each:
http://www.seriouslylotus.com/wheels-tyres/wheels-and-tyres-misc/wheel-centre-caps-team-dynamics-1-2-wheels
Unfortunately postage to Oz is about the same cost again... :(
I recently picked up a set of TD 1.2s with semis on them but most of the caps are busted. Keen to also know if you can get replacement caps at a reasonable price, from Team Dynamics or elsewhere...
I think anything below 400CCA is a bit low, iirc they came with batteries rated at around 500CCA from factory- or at least they did here in Australia.
450CCA would definitely be better than 380CCA though!
Perhaps before you buy another battery though, give the TDC sensor a bit of a clean and...
Usually the trip resetting is a sign that the battery is on it's way out, these cars seem pretty sensitive to a battery that is starting to go.
Am I reading that right, the battery rating is 380CCA? If so that seems a bit low to me...
Might sound silly but worth giving the throttle pedal connector a good clean and plug/unplug it a few times as well to ensure clean contact. I had symptoms similar to yours and doing this has solved them.
If it doesn't work it hasn't cost you anything and it is one thing you can rule out before...
Check that the bearing circlip hasn't popped and allowed the rotor to move. I had this happen to me when I had a bearing replaced and the circlip wasn't set in the groove properly, car drove fine with no issues for weeks until the circlip finally popped.
TBH if they were genuine rotors I would...
Forgot to add, thanks again to you all for the advice re: BCs/spring rates- I think if I do intend to go down the BC route in future I will actually have a better idea of what I will want/need after running these B14's. If they feel too soft on track then I will know I need to go harder, and...
Thought I should update this as things have moved along somewhat.
After much thought re: the BC's I ended up getting an excellent offer on a set of barely used B14's (swap for the Konis/Eibachs and a bit of $$$), actually off the Clio that I was getting the rollcentre kit from. After fitting...
Because racecar :tonguewink:
Haha no not really - I normally run the Konis at 1.5 turns on the road anyway. I was trying them firmer on the front to see if I could stop the front diving so much but found that at full hard I was getting the bouncing so wound it back a bit which helped...
Great info mate - many thanks! When you explain it like that you can see why they do only offer the one spring for the rear - didn't realise they were progressive though, and assuming the info I found on spring rates is correct the Eibach rears are a fair bit stiffer. The 5kg springs would be...
So you can't specify anything else other than an 8kg spring on the rear?
I believe you were running the 5kg spring on the front before yeah? Obviously the 8kg springs is quite a bit firmer, how does that compare to the 5kg on track? Do you drive the car on the road at all - if so how did you...
Surprised that the Bilsteins are 75(N?) on the front as well! I searched for the spring rates for the B14s but couldn't find them, as I did for the KWs - purely to compare as a couple of friends in Clios that I have done trackdays with run those and they comment that they are too soft for track...
Howdy all - apologies in advance for the long winded post! I am looking for some advice regarding the suspension on my 172.
Currently I am running Koni yellows with Eibach Sportlines, but will be getting my hands on a rollcentre kit shortly. Now I understand that if I were to run the...
Are you meaning the common leak from the selector shaft?
Unfortunately I am pretty sure you need to split the box open to fix that, to get to the seals and the small bush(?) that need to be replaced - so may as well rebuild the 'box anyway.
@NorthloopCup would be able to confirm.
Struck it lucky with the weather, it was the day of the Australian F1 GP - so if you watched any of free practice you can imagine what it was like a day or two before
It is an epic track though
Thought I'd post a vid of a lap of Phillip Island in my 172, just in case anyone was wondering what it would be like in their Clio :tonguewink:
Running AD08Rs on Turinis, koni yellows/sportlines, camber bolts, solid topmounts, ktec/vibratechnic engine mounts, DS2500 front pads/Motul RBF600...
Had you had any suspension work done/neg camber added just before the issue started? It could also be worn engine mount/s allowing the engine to move sideways under cornering too much. Hopefully it is something as simple as that :)
It sounds like your driver's side driveshaft is bottoming out/binding - try loosening off your upper engine/gearbox mounts and shifting the engine over towards the passenger side, then tightening them up again to give the driveshaft more room.
A good quality contact cleaner would be better than WD40 imo - I'd give all the fuses and relays all a good clean while you were there as well. Wouldn't hurt to give the throttle body, accelerator pedal and ecu connectors a going over too...
