I will be doing some track days in the cars for sure, just looked on autotrader and theres some mint low mileage Cupra R for 10k and less. Oh yeah, gotta be standard as well!!
Thing is with the GTI-6, the figures seem to vary from place to place, even the club sites differ with there figures, Ive seen figures of 6.7 to 60, 7.5 and 8.5 for the GTI-6, if its sub 7 Id be happy seen as you have to switch to 3rd for 60. 8.5 is a little less appealing.
The Cup was top of...
Having a bit of trouble deciding on my next car, tempted by any of the 3 above. I know this is a Clio site, blah blah, biased but still, opinions are always welcome!
GTI-6 can pick up minters for 6k, lot of car for the money, 167bhp, 6 speed, not bad as standard, not amazingly quick?
Ibiza...
Had mine up to 115 on 15s, only got decat, filter and straight thro zorst. 17s will take a lot away though and with every Reno, they have good and bad days!!
Ai, did mine myself an all but lowered it too much on the back first attempt, put it up a bit day after cos it was riding on bump stops. Tis really easy tho, took me an hour to raise her back up, still around 90mm on back though.
Do it yourself, get some spring compressors off a mate or for 20 quid at halfords, the rest can be done for nothing. Rear torsion bar is easy, follow the guide on daz-uk.com, thats what I did, took me a day to do the lot and I aint got a clue about cars!!
If its not popping out of gear, whats the problem? Expect some movement when you put your foot down, itll usually move about an inch or 2 but providing it aint jumping out of gear, theres no problem. If somethings not broke then dont fix it!!!
I used to have a Peco BB2 backbox and it sounded alright, not novaish at all like everyone makes out! Mine was the stainless steel one, was fine, fitted well and still looked new when I sold it.
Get some decent oil in it and you shouldnt have to wait long for it to warm up. Thrashing it from cold isnt gonna do immense harm anyway, especially if you use top quality oil.
Thing is, your average dude doesnt understand power to weight! They just see size of the engine, BHP and think oh this has 200bhp so its obviously faster then this car with 170bhp. Only reason Pug bought out the 180 is for BHP figure war, people see 180bhp and think its quicker then the 172...
Why not do it yourself? All you need is a threaded bolt, nut and a spanner, jack car up, use bolt to pull torsion bar out, raise hub to how low you want it, put torsion bar back in. Didnt take me long to do mine. Took longer to fit new springs then it did to do the torsion bar.
Prices also seem to differ from dealer to dealer, my valver bonnet cost 100 quid from Renault dealer in Derby. Some things rate cheap though, got a gearbox linkage cover for a couple of quid from Reno dealer, went to buy a inner arch liner that stops sh*t flying on cambelt, similar size plastic...
People who drive about with fogs on when its not foggy are anally retarded. Does my head in, its not foggy so dont use them, you look like a muppet and just fit in with all the barry boys whos fitted 50 lights to the front of there car, strapped neons to the bonnet and put a night rider style...
Screw Reno and go with Liverpool Vic or loose the lowering springs till its time to renew then go with Vic. Your basically driving round with no insurance at the moment, crash into a 50k Beemer and youll have a big bill on your hands as well as a royal shaffting from the police.
Adams 16v had some white 16s on his blue valver and they looked awesome, not sure what they were, hes sold em now but hell put a pic up if you send him some chinky p**n.
Do what Ben H said in all but the last paragraph. You cant lower a Williams or do anything to a Willy at all, esp no 2, its just criminal IMO. A Willy looks best as standard, the day it left the factory.
A guy off RSC made one out of a roses tin, it looked bloody stupid but probably worked!! Using plastic tubs though is not a good idea, hot engine = melted plastic everywhere!
This is a discussion forum, things get discussed, this is being discussed, hes a muppet for selling the car after taking a deposit off someone else, end of discussion.
