Hi all, So I have a 2006 1.5 dci 103k on clock, this has worked and never failed since i bought it 6 month ago.
First issue i had when i took it to a car wash and left engine running whilst the rollers went round, after then a mesage popped up saying check igntion and the turbo didnt kick in...
Hi, following breaking up a 172 I have a few parts needed out the way. So if your itnerested in grabbing a bargain, all lists start at 99p!

Yeah best way is to dp a full swap, although finding a custom fit manifold for turbo might be where costs come in, but the mk2 ph1 is surely lighter than the twingo, so wouldnt mpg be increased? (excluding hammering it)
i've been considering this for quite some time, although mine been a 8v, would have to convert to 16v. You can buy the twingo engines with about 40k for £400-600 w/o turbo. They are only small so cheap to pick up. You would be looking under £800 conversion. Although alot of people will outline...
Oh and if you end up painting it, dont use halfords paint! worst colour match and quality, find a paint specialist around you that will make you a aerosol to match your paint code. Be sure to get their primer and 2k laquer, may cost tad bit more, but end result will be loads better. Round my end...
once down to plastic, use about 2/3 coats of primer, sanding between each one, use 600-1200 going up each coat. paint apply 2/3 coats using 1200-2000. use a high grade paper after last coat of paint and sand until dull. Apply laquer, 2k laquer would work fine, will last you a while before it...
the top rubber mount is the bolt, once the strut is popped through the whole in the engine bay, you then screw the rubber mount on, you saying yours has slipped through? or it just not been done right in the first place lol
Did you get the clocks to go with the engine or you wanting to use your own? I think with changing to ph2 would be a little complex, guess it just depends on your knowlege understanding.
If your removing the a/c then officially you would need to pay for it to be de gased. Just be careful if not!
Your also going to need to change the sub frame, drive shafts, hubs, suspension struts, if your taking that off you may aswell replace anti roll bars.
Whilst engine is off, do some work on it like, oil change, sparks, cambelt maybe consider water pump if never changed.
Im breaking my 172 if...
Yeah I Figuired someone was gonna say swap the entire engine, was thinking more to add on to mine to match the spec's. I have a spare 182 engine I could stick in mine if I really wanted, as mentioned, wanna make it more fun :p something different is my aim.
I know everyone is gonna suggest more...
that normally refers to the width of the filter opening, depends on what size hose your using, measure the width of the hose that your using to connect to the block or if its feeding of the main. Maybe a pic of your setup would help.
Ive had this changed on mine before, you may aswell do them all together as you have to take them off to get to it. However i paid a friend to do it for £30, i should suspect a garage to be looking about £120
Hi there,
I have both a 172 and 1.2 8v clio, I've been thinking about making the 1.2 more of a fun ride, but still keeping decent mpg. Now the mk4 clio do the 1.2 tce engine, the engine seems to be much of a replica to what in mine. So im thinking adding the turbo to reach 100bhp, may consider...
The earth is located inbetween the battery and the passengers head light if i remember correctly, should be bolted to the chasis. try cleaning it up or using WD
Hi all, I have a question which ive searched and unable to find the answer to.
I have a 1.2 2000 clio and a 172 2000. As the 172 is off the road at the moment, I have a spare set of dual optics I originally bought for the 1.2, now rather than buying the h4 - h3/7 converters for £35. Can i just...
Fraud Isnt the correct term. Thats falsely using someones details without permission. This is classed as insurance fronting, was brought up few years back as alot of people were doing this.
I have been drivong for 5 years and have 2 years ncb. Just hard to get insired below 25 on that car. I...
Yeah before engine was going in, cambelt, head gasket, spark plugs and possible water pump will be changed.
When I did a quote, I listed, upgraded brakes, alloys, engine modified (non standard) which was £579. 172 was 989 cheapest and only found one insurer which would insure. I wont be on...
Was driving my newly purchased 172 home, knowing the engine was slightly f*cked i thought it would make it all the way!
So driving down the M6 and the engine rattle got worse, until a massive bang, coolant and oil shot everywhere. Big chunk of metal and whatever else was there shot through the...
Hi everyone, I have recently bought myself a clio 172 as a donor car for my 1.2. I had full intention of converting my 1.2 into a 1*2 with possible turbo conversion in time. If you've seen my car already I have full 172 kit on.
Now I have them both in the garage, the 172 is spot on, bar some...
