Any one know of a decent place I can get this done for less than £500 or so....
I know its an engine out job etc... but its annoyingly expensive at all places I have asked.
Anyone have good tips etc?
Cheers
IMO - new zorst isnt needed, as advised by the guys who mappe dmy car as they are pretty decent - similar with the IK - but its the sound that makes it!
With a new zorst, PiperX Viper IK and a Unichip (great buy for £450 + map) I got my 172bhp to 190/195. Smoother power, lower torque curve...
I used to be able to get 41.6 out of mine at about 60-70 on motorway...
I have now left the trip to run over 200gallons of fuel and its settled at about 29.7 - but thats mainly town and non-shopping runs :P
imo i wouldnt buy one. I have found that the stealth system with sports cat is very heavy and has so far ripped through 3 rubber mounts and a thin piece (1.5mm) wire that I used as a last resort.
Personally I am now getting rid of my system as corrosion and decay has set in after 1yr and I...
Have to post a big big thanks to Fred, Yozza and friend with the Copper Grease.
After the muppet garage decided to mess up the fitment of the brakes - these guys spent 4hrs correcting it from 10pm to 2am last night/this morning!
Very grateful for their efforts - Cheers guys! (y)
Just to let you know that I have tried Yozs car and they braking on his car was stupidly hard. I pressed down my usual amount that I would in the 172 and sent the car into power slide *I didnt tell him this tho :D*
I have put the discs and pads on my car and already the stopping power is...
My first run in a 172 was a shocking 16+ seconds :( I beat that in the wet later...
Leave t/c off and just get better each time... I was down to mid 15s by the end of the day.
The V6 will get more looks I think.... the side vents look brilliant - and its probably easier to play with.. However, I couldnt really justify the price for the performance :(
Bleedin Eck! Thats the 3rd degree.
Last Time I got pulled was a few years back as I floored it in 1st to 30, saw the coppers, dropped into 4th and sat at30... they pulled me anyway, took all the people in the car out, saw my back tyre was 4psi flat, told me to go to a garage and inflate it...
Just get a Sparce or Momo seat or something ;)
I drive over 20,000 a year. I am only 5 10". I find that it is pretty comfortable most of the time.
I agree that the seat seems to get caught "inbetween" for the best settings, but even when I drove to Newcastle and back int he same day (nearly...
Personally I thinkt he 172 is lovely -and the 182 wasnt really needed except to pip the Coopr S by a bit more and make itslightly faster mid range withthe torque difference.
Get the 172, spend the extra 5k modding it and I will be a faster, better all round performance car than the civic...
For those with a small budget who want an all round sports car thats cheap to run and still fun to drive then go for a new Ford ST...
For those people who want the performance over the interior and can afford the extra insurance and running costs got a for a RSpt Cup...
For those who want...
Andy, I posted a topic in the Mods section which I wanted comments one - but will add here as this seems more suitable :)
I had a RR done on my 172 with Viper IK and K-tec sports cat on:
1) Is PP of 131.3 and PT of 118.9(ft/lb) about right?
2) the power dips between 4750 and 5400 and then...
Nah lol - I am deffo a teacher here! 24 and I still had insurance problems! Imagine what a 17yr old would be like hehe!
With the mods on I am about as fast as both as neither has as impresive a performance as they deserve lol.
In a few years I will roll in wih a FQ-340..... cat really beat...
I was the talk of the school when I ordered the 172 and rolled into the car park! Esp with the lower ability groups lol
Then at the end of term... what happens.... a guy swaps his Alfa Romeo for a Mazda MX8 to rub it in.... he actually said to me, "Got the edge on you now" type thing...
Then...
It is the fuel pump mate - it was the same in my Pug 1.9GTi
If left over night the fuel drains from the injection unit etc. turning the key primes the injectors... without it it doesnt start first time on my 172. However, drive for a mile and stop.. then start it and it goes first time.
Just...
Just took it off to swap to magnecore 8.5mm racing leads and found....
1 x 30mm length bolt.... not apprently missing from the car
1 x well toasted Fag end.....
Got to love the Reno Manufacturers....
Perhaps I should frame these :p
Surely that then allows us to argue that they are only out to get money on the devices.
If the detectors warn in advance of balck spots and dangerous areas - where speed cameras are - of course - as they are only allowed to place speed cameras in areas that are dangerous - cause they stick to...
I am aiming for that sort of power but would go for the K-tec exhaust and the sports Cat which they said would combine to give about 14bhp... then the Induction at about 10bhp, Kent Cam for 10bhp, and Chip on top - 10bhp.
All in all i reckon about 30-35bhp on top of the 172 - ~210bhp. + quick...
no - not immediately... it will take a while!
Drain your tank until you are driving on fumes and then fill her up - you will notice the difference after a couple of tanks as it cleans the engine - so it will clean up over time.
It is more pokey and even if you dont think there is any...
the handling on my 17s is way different -as said - it is set up for 195/45 R16
The 205/40 R17 I have feels more jumpy at higher speeds - lighter on the steering ie more responsive.
In corners it takes longer to turn in - due to the raised hand-print on the road, but pulls out faster.
17s...
have the latest Road Angel and it works well within a few cm of the clear sqaure - problem is it doesnt stick to the dash very well
Going to get the tech department at school to knock something up for me!
