16V and 172 names

The Valver seems a bit unfortunate sometimes in that if you say "I have a Clio sixteen-valve", most people say "so what?" in the same way as if youd said it had injection. For those whod never seen a Valver, it would be easy to think you were talking about a very average car, such is the extent of multivalve technology today.

But what about the 172? Surely now it sounds impressive to say your Clio has 170-odd bhp - so what about when 170+bhp is considered pretty average? As cars get heavier and the bhp race climbs to new peaks, surely it will suffer the same pub-conversation anonymity in years to come as the 16V? Imagine saying you have a Golf "110" in respect of a Mk1 GTi - would harldy raise an eyebrow today! (except to those in the know).

I was talking to a very fit female member of my pool team the other week and she said she likes the fast and the furious cos of the fast cars!

I told her ive got a clio 16v and she nearly wet herself!!!

many fond memories of the valver kicking ass of most races ive had,im very selctive of what i race, i lost to a mk2 escort that sounded like it had a scobby engine in it,

quite literally it pissd on me easily and it also whooped my mates 106 gti with ease too, that car was a monster,

Steady son, all show and not as much go as it should of had, but still not bad!

Itll show a standard 172 or cup a very clean pair of heals in a straight line, mind you I dont care about this argument any more coz ive got a Mk2 coming, and boy have I got some plans for that!
