16v/Williams ’Period Feel’ Owners....

Right managed to get a hold of a "period" cd HU from a 95ish clio and was wondering if anyone knew if this model was ever fitted as std or option to a 16v/williams. The model number is DEH2006, made by Pioneer and branded Renault;

Apparently theyre quite rare to find but im worried about loosing the "period feel" that my interior has already. Currently ive got a 4x6w Phillips unit (the same as in the original brochure) which is spot on;

Yeah my missus has the same one in her 1.4 Clio Champs Elysee, load of poo in my opinion, doesnt work too well with CDRs, starts skipping and sounding funny towards the end of the CD, of course it could be a faulty unit.

Oh no - its not that, i just think the tape looks a bit more retro! :D

Also, my car isnt garaged so whos ever going to nick a 4x6w tape deck?

No, My Williams 3 was a tape deck.. Riplashs Williams 2 was a tape deck (altho different).

Never seen a CD Deck in a Clio.. unless it was a rare optional extra?

Wouldn;t have minded going original myself, but technology has changed, and I couldnt do without a CD player, Id probably cry

Hmmm...well the guy i bought that unit off says it came out of a clio (a Champs Elysee too) and it is renault branded as well as pioneer so must have been an option surely....but maybe just on the "last of the line" phase 2/3s.

northy - nah, my headunit is different from that (yous looks more powerful) so cant take a changer. It does have a 3.5mm jack on it though :) - might get pictures up of it cos its something to behold!

mike8579 - just had a look at those HUs and see what you mean about not looking out of place - well retro!

Anyways, its up for sale now (see sale section) if anyone wants the retro look without loosing CDs..........
