172 mk1 - unhealthy noise from the engine bay (video clip inside)

Hi guys, first post here!
Bought myself a Clio 172 mk1 during the weekend since I'm going back to school in a while if everythings comes together. Anyway enough about that.

I have a recorded two clips:

Cold engine:

I replaced the aux belt, tensioner and wheel yesterday along with an oil change. But the noise didn't go away. Turning the steering wheel makes some change to tone of the noise but it never goes away.

at a guess with the noise chaging when you turn the wheel it could be the power steering pump?

Deffo sounds like PS Pump...I assume you've checked the fluid level yes? Either way take the aux belt off again and run it to see if the noise has gone and then feel the pump for any signs of failure or stiffness in the bearing race. Don't let it run for ages as the water pump is aux. belt driven - under a minute won't hurt it though.

I went to the local stealership this morning and had one of the service guys take a look at it. With the help of a stethoscope he mangaged to identify the noise, the bloody AC compressor!
With the AC turned on the noise so loud at all (if any) which is a good thing I guess.

Is it possible to change the pulley and bearings without having to replace the AC compressor?
