172 mk2 trade in 4 a 182





Needs a few ppls advise on this 1?

I can get a 182 with the cup spoilers/suspension pack and sat nav for 12k, and i got a 53 plate (oct 03) mk2 172. ive been told that il prob get about 10k px price on my 172 due to the high milage it has (about 13k) and il prob owe about 8.5k on my current finance on the 172, so this would leave me wit 1.5k for a deposit.

Just wanted to know whether it would be worth trading in my 172 and ordering the 182 and also is there any1 whos actually tradin in the 172 for a 182 already and are happy with their decision, cos at the moment im well happy wit my 172 but i like the idea of having all the extra gadgets and 10bhp !!

the 2004 ctr has been tested by a certain mag at 6.8 and the same mag got the 182 to be 6.3? take from that what you will?
 


Ahh well I will prob make my decision when i go out on a test drive on thursday.. il let ya all know the verdict.

that price looks too good to be true for the 182, the list on all that is £16900, the only way you would get close to that is with f+f?
 


i can get a 30% discount on182 but limited to make my order by the end of april as it has to be regesterd in the uk by end of june.

and btw, you cant get both cup options and sat nav, im afraid its either sat nav or the cup spoiler, both cant be purchased together, they are not compatible (see various threads about the subject by searching)
 


ive had red and and currently got monaco blue at the moment, wouldnt mind having the yellow but that aint avaliable at the moment i heard, might possibly go with the black gold???? Also thanks 4 the advise on the cup spoiler/sat nav- yeah i saw about that, summit to do wit the gps areial, worth a try anyway see wat they say. Do u av a 182?
 


its all about depreciation, financially you will be far worse off in the long run, you have suffered an amount of depreciation already, you will begin again when you purchase the 182, discounted as it is.

There is a lot of money to be spent/lost for 10 bhp and other bits that you may not really use.

I have a 172 and more than financially able to get a 182, but i just cant justify the cost!! - in 12 months the current clio will be obsolete and no matter what anyone says, the current prices of 172, 182 etc will be hit hard. Prob best to just upgrde yours and you get the best of both worlds.

Plus, reading all the threads, it dosent appear that renault have ironed out any glitches, most 182 posts seem to be compaining about faults? this again does not inspire confidence.

Its just my opinion!;)

Ive been really tempted to get a 182 but Renault being as they are in a year or so theyll be another one out and Ill want that too!!

Perfect marketing on their behalf! And I only want it coz its the latest and badest, if they were still selling the 172, I wouldnt even be thinking of changing my car.

Well done Renault for creating a desire to have what I just dont need!!!;)

What are the extra gadgets? besides satnav which is basically a waste of time as it never takes you the best way.

yes i do and am very happy with it, god luck with whichever you choose, thats a damn good price!

I traded my 172mk2 for my 182 and have no regrets, not that there was/is anything wrong with the 172 i just liked what i had read about the newer car. It is essentially the same just more driver focused and definately gets more attention than the 172 did.

Id take the CTR figures with a pinch of salt as they seem to be exactly the same as the figures for the old car - the guys over on the Civic Type-R forums wonder if they actually tested the new one or just used the old figures they had?

Either way, I think you can safely say that the 182 will out sprint a CTR to 60. (And thats from a CTR owner!)

you cant get the cup spoiler pack and the satnav together. If i was you i wouldnt change your 172, just add a few mods to it and will be cheaper and better than trading it for a 182. That is a very cheap price though for a 182 with them options the satnav cost me 1500 alone when i ordered my 172.

i thought the same about the ctr, it is supposed to be .2 secs faster than the old model yet they put it at 6.8 which coincidently is the same as the old model, I wold be dubious about those figures too.

Its the same as autoexpress, they tested the 182 at 6.8 last week against the mini copper s, but did they because their sister magazine Evo tested the car a few weeks before when it had only done a few hundred miles at the same time, they obviously just inherited the time and didnt bother to test it having done a few thousand miles like Car had ( I think I have got the magazine names the right way round?)

SO you do honestly think a 182 would beat a ctr to 60? I think it would be too close to call and there wouldnt e anything but the driver in it anyway (which you already know)

How is the CTR going, is it nicer to drive than the 172 or tiring keeping it in vtec?
