182 cup- how to save even more weight!!



  182 cup
As above, the 172 cup is the real cup but how could I save some real weight without too much hastle in a 182 cup. Planning on buying a cup but not sure weither i want a 182 or 172 yet, oviously the 172 option is much cheaper and prefer the 182 looks. help..

If your planning on buying a cup then buy the original and true CUP.

Put the money left over in the bank or better still buy some mods.
 
Good luck in finding a genuine 182 Cup that you actually want and is reasonably local, not actually that many about as it was a bit of a flawed release (182 with Cup Packs was the car of choice).

If you prefer the looks of the 182 I assume you mean the tailpipes as that's the only difference...? If so save yourself some money and buy a 172 Cup, then get Pro-Speed or someone to do a twin tailpipe conversion, pretty easy mod and should save you a fair bit. You will need to replace the exhaust sooner or later anyway so 172 Cup + pipe conversion would be the sensible option. Performance wise there really isn't anything in it.
 
Buy a 182 Cup - Air con for the summer. ABS for the winter - and you get exclusivity, there are less of them than the exclusive trophy ;)

Oh and the back seat is made out of foam and weighs about 250g - so you won't save much weight by losing this.

Take out all the carpet, rear seats. and sound proofing (maybe fit with checker plate)

Simple, if you want the newer car with ABS and aircon - 182 Cup.

Want the real thing with nice wheels, save a bit of dolla and slightly lighter - 172 Cup.

You could try and source a 172 cup with CC, good luck though!! Biased, but this would be my choice ;)

I just don't get the point of taking out the seats. Even a FF 182 has near identical performance to a 172 CUP on the road (put the Stig in the FF182 and he'd beat any of us in a 172 CUP around a track I'm sure). Taking about the back seats is just going to make you look like a knob when you need to give more than 1 person a lift.

If you want something faster, then save up and get an Evo or STI.

but same could be said with put Stig in a cup and he'd beat any of us in a 182. What i would say is I would have loved CC in my 172 Cup with this heat!:cool:

CC is fantastic. My point is this chap is buying a new car, so why buy a car and then feck it up but ripping out the seats, when the real world performance gains are going to be insignificant?

If going fast is that important, then buy a faster car.

Get a 172 Cup or 182 FF, the 182 Cup is pointless, it's not 'hardcore' and there's bugger all weight difference.

Or get a Trophy, best of all worlds.

Ha ha exactly mate. I think bringing the Stigs driving skills into this was a bit irrevelant.

If you want my to cents on the question I'd go for the 172 cup if you want the lighter car, but your hardly gaining much of a performance (straight-line) advantage over a 182 cup/with cup packs so its hardly worth worrying about. The choice comes down to interior trim and toys/equipment in my opinion when choosing between those cars (if you can afford both of course - 172 is cheaper), if you want the leather and toys go for the 182.

172 CUP, then use the money you've saved over a 182 & spend it on a few choice mods.. 182 manifold, modified inlet, exhaust, then into the interior, strip it, lighter seats, etc, etc.

What I mean was a better way to make it go faster is to become a better driver. I agree with you though, the cars are so close better to get a 182 + cup packs and have the nice toys like Xenons, CC and nicer interior
