Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread

Exhaust seems pretty quiet, could be down to me being used to a Yozza/decat on the 182 though!

Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread

I don't think theres too much to tell atm apart from the fact that Gordon brown is a w*nker for the price of car tax :( Oh and insurance takes the piss too.
"hello, yes, well, It's got a roll cage"
"I'm sorry, we don't insure cars like that"
:(

Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread

unlucky bout insurance

car looks the dogs tbh, love it

what size exhaust is that (the tip obv) iv just ordered a 3.5" inward rolled one and scaired its gonna be too big... that one looks perfect

Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread

Done a few quotes online and its not looking as bad as I imagined. Admiral multicar seems reasonable with the 182 as well and theyre not usually very good on mods.

Will play them all against each other when I start ringing round. Plenty of hours in at work means I'm good to go though

Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread

nice one, i got that k-tec catbback and went for the smallest single tip, the 3.5" lol

looking at yours its making me even more impatiant to get my valver back!

Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread

good news about the insurance mate. As I remember it, that's what you were most worried about when starting out?

Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread

The multicar quote was about equal to what I'm paying this year on the 182 alone. Assuming I filled it in properly. :approve:

Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread

Major lack of updates folks, sorry! Not far off now though.

Replaced n/s driveshaft and brake caliper after the problems with the others (cheers Fred/Foxy). Gearbox oil all back in, brakes bled through with Motul rbf600 fluid and tonight I dropped it back down onto its wheels.

Loads of other bits have happened but Ive not remembered to take pics of anything.

Quick check over with the spanners and I pootled down the road, first time in 5 months or so. Curtains twitched one by one as I went by... they see me rollin'

IMG_1997.jpg

Cold air feed to standard air box with K&N panel filter. New gearbox earth strap too.

IMG_2002.jpg

New wipers, £1.28 of JTF's finest.

Sorted the wing mirror situation out. It came with blue ph1 mirrors but they were both broken, so I got hold of another pair of red ph1's and swapped the caps over

IMG_2004.jpg

Painted the red ones wheel colour, blue ones on for now though. Thoughts?

IMG_2009.jpg

Awaiting a breather filter to go on here, rather than back into the airbox

IMG_2005.jpg

Bumper back on and tightened up. Number plate added.

Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread

Made a start on cutting the 3mm polycarbonate sheet i'd ordered for the windows and sunroof. They're going to be fixed all round for now, then I might look into adding a slider or 2 at a later date.

Copy the glass onto it

Cutting/tidying tools

Magic!

Horrible stuff to work with when a grinder is involved, dust gets everywhere. Wrong day to wear jeans with a great hole in the thigh.

IMG_2034.jpg

Found a spare sticker to cover the mess that is the corner of the bonnet

IMG_2035.jpg

Sunroof cut and bonded in, make-shift weights

IMG_2036.jpg

172 H&R's in the box, for sale shortly ;)

IMG_2037.jpg

IMG_2038.jpg

Other side strips on

IMG_2039.jpg

IMG_2040.jpg

Went to get a new pair of tyres fitted onto the 182 wheels so that the Mk1 can reclaim the Willy wheels

IMG_2041.jpg

Back in the garage with a slight adjustment to the weights
