225 Clio Build

Well had the car at the mappers on Wednesday all went well engine has been bedded in but have no boost due to a couple of small issues one of which was the one valve on the breather from manifold to breather case but new ordered and fitted from Renault today...other one being a leak from the throttle body to inlet manifold but have gasket paper to fix that

All coming together nicely

insurance paid for only £390 a year was well chuffed lol also just back from MOT and it passed but still has and oil leak I'll get under the car on Monday and get it seen too along with redoing the battery cable as it's to thin for the job, but car feels good on the road some vibrating through the pedals but think that maybe the fact it's fully polybushed

Well car is fully road legal now... just oil leak, gasket paper to fit on the throttle body and oil change then out for a drive woohoo hope ther weathers good tomorrow ill get all they jobs done.

also ordered my 630cc injectors from the US last night £156 compared to £210 from UK and there Matched so no randoms out a bag!!

im using AN-10 fittings lad, theres off ebay mate ill text you the link later on

Where are you going to use tape then? The hose has not sealed correctly to the fitting or the cone is not seated correctly. Could they be over tightened?

Well turbo made its first trip out today after fixing the issues did around 60 miles in her

All was going well until weird noise coming from drivers side wheel think drive shaft is loose but I'll get a look at it tomorrow also need to invest in bonnet raisers as there's so much heat under the bonnet

Well the teething issues have appeared

First off is my driverside hub has stripped threads out two of the holes, bu sorted that yesterday

Second of is when I'm doing 70+ and let off the throttle there's a loud grinding sort of noise coming from front right and the steering wheel vibrates quite abit not clue what's causing it

Loose wheel nuts? Mine came loose and it was as you described. Sounds stupid but took me ages to work it out as I was miles from home with no tools.

It could be because of the extra torque you are applying on a more regular basis or increased braking torque. Most cars with the sort of power a turbo clio has will have larger PCD's and 5 wheel bolts per wheel.

There's no extra torque as the boost isn't connected at the moment

Nah every conversion sticks with 4x100 so I must have another issue somewhere

Ahh fair enough.

With regards to the other clio's I agree, but I was just suggesting that an OEM car would not run 100x4 on a car with the power and torque a turbo'd clio will most likely run. Certainly with a 225 conversion.

Yeah I agree with that must 2 litre cars are 5 stud

I'll get to the bottom of the issue tho as I shall not be beaten lol

Number of wheel bolts is to do with the wheel size not the torque going through the wheel. Look at an escort cosworth, delta integrale, etc that all used 15" wheels from the 80's. They all used 4 stud patterns.

Sounds like a driveshaft issue. Are they original or have they been changed? Have you checked the wheel bearing as well?

I thought it was drive shaft too

Standard 172's one mate...plus had new hub yesterday due to threads been stripped

I'll hopefully get it up tomorrow and get a look

Are they 2 piece shafts? If not, it would be advisable to get one from a suitable donor.

Mechanicals pretty much all done but having some issues with the wiring that hasn't been touched since it was running last. Just back from holiday today so will get on it over the weekend.

If it was plain sailing it would be boring! Lol
