36k Cup service query

Other than the usual service spec, I understand that the 2.0 16v needs accessory belt replaced at 36k miles. Dealer has quoted upwards of £350 for service plus this additional operation and explained that the accessory belt change is a git of a job and that bumper and other bits need to be removed, so labour costs are high.

Is it really this much hassle ? Could any reasonably competent garage do it - another I use for the missus Golf would be far cheaper than Reno.

Also noted that manual says "Accessory belt and pulleys" - I assumed they replace the belt and the pulleys then just need adjusting for tension on the belt rather than replacing - is this right ?

Cheers.

where are you based? I am taking mine to Rentech on Friday, much better prices than any Renault Dealer and Mike knows his Renaults.

looks good but I'm in Northampton - anyone know of a similar independent outfit more local or any details on exactly what's involved in accessory belt change ?

Cheers.

Rentech quote was almost exactly the same as local dealer ???????????????

Was hoping it would be a bit cheaper............independents are usually much better value.

Just paid £250 for 36k at Gravells in South Wales and they offered me a courtesy car while they were doing it.

I am amazed but it was actually a pain free relatively cheap experience.
