Abandoned V6

seen a pic of that a few weeks ago! I cant help but wonder why/how a car like that ends up in that state :(

How about a few of us here pool together, buy the car, and make it a community project to restore it to its former glory! Or am I pushing the hippy vibes a bit too much right now...

Really does need to be rescued, but if the seller has a daft figure in his head, more fool him. The longer it sits there, the less he'll be able to get for it. Shame really, as 3k in his pocket is better than a poxy motor on his drive rotting away.

This'll save a few grand, someone smooth the bodywork, forget painting it, I'll wrap it for free as a charity job!

You know the guy isn't playing with a full deck col, no way I'd be 'approaching' him. I'd love to know what number it is though.
Russ

Min pretty sure it's 0485 Russ but I'm going back to try and get a pic of the plaque, won't be easy though without him seeing lol

There is near zero point in restoring this car from a financial point of view. Its essentially A full restoration, which on a V6 would outweight the final price tag.
If you have money to burn- then fair enough.

The only point to buying it would be to strip the body parts & sell them off. - The engine will be fooked,& most of the components. The interior will be shagged, but maybe recoverable. ( unlikely )

Apart from the sentimental thoughts on this car it is really just a pretty POS.

Cs buys a vee, let's get the ball rolling!

We could make it look pretty, take it to all the shows, parade it round. It'll be too expensive to sort the engine, so lets just make it a rolling shell and push it about. Just need someone to put it to bed every night

Amazing.. Some of us can only dream of owning one.. Let alone just letting it rot. Even my mum would realise that it's got an engine in the boot so must be a "bit different".

whats a track car shell worth?

Lol at everyone saying it would not be worth it and it would need a full restoration. Who cares? All it needs is for someone to get it running and DRIVE it. I bet a good clean would make a huge difference.

Id say your looking at north of 2.5k to get that Taxed & MOTed & mobile.

Not many people rolling with that sort of money just for the fun of driving a manky mildew ridden clio.

If it looked like this.....

It can get more and more rotten, the blokes on to a winner. I saw a rotten, and I mean a complete pile of rust, no panels on it, mk1 escort sell on eBay the other week for just over £10,000. Admittedly it was the chassis plate and the V5 that made it worth that but then this car has both of those too.

In 20 years Time I wouldn't mind betting this will do the same.

Er-

Brakes all round. They will be fooked. - £500-£700 + Bleeding.- what if the calipers are fooked....
Cambelt & Clutch & all new fluids £1250-£1500 (inc big service)
New tyres. £500-600

MOT + TAX- As a minimum £250

That's 3k even before you address the car.

But would all of that really need to be done to get it running?

Well, theres no point in standing there looking at it running- you would want to drive it & at that point all of the above would need to be done.

Its only worth keeping for parts- its been ruined.

Shame, but life- If this thread upsets you don't look at the abandoned supercar thread from Dubai.

I'm betting it gets driven. That hasn't been sat stationary in that setting for six years. If it had, it would be covered in green mould, and there would be grass/weeds/plants growing out of it. Certainly through the wheels and arches.

It doesn't get driven been sat there like that for years, only round the corner from Colin's and I've been passed a few times as well and it's never moved.

Definately not Roy, it's sat in that same spot and never shifted. It's literally blocked in by junk and bits of tree and scrap. I drive past it most days. IIRC guy lost his license for some reason as well.

Seen this on one of the renault facebook pages the other day.

Im with Steve on this one, its going to need alot of cash spent on it, maybe worth it as a long term project for someone to play about with but i doubt youd make any money on it!

I got the money laying about to buy restore and be surrounded with a crack team of strippers to hand me spanners...

I'm not that stupid tho, I'll stick with the strippers, leave the vee to another idiot, it's a breaker.

That doesn't really bother me at all haha.

But yeah he will never let that go. I bet you could offer him a silly amount of money and he would still say no.

He just seems to love holding onto things.
