Another Standard Exhaust Bites The Dust!!!

Driving along and i hear this slight burble from the exhaust but i think nothing of it, the next thing the car gets louder and then BANG!!.....SCRAPE!!!!! the backbox snaps off but of course it's still hanging on by the mounting bracket. I ending up taking a knife to it and hacking it off so i could get home. Feels like i've lost 100bhp, all noise and no go :dapprove:

I've just done 42,000 miles in a 53 plate (registered Jan 2004) and having heard a lot of bad stories about the exhaust i was really just waiting until it fell off.

Looks like i need a new backbox (£120) and a new mounting clamp (£23), is this about right??

P.S I'm so tempted to go for the K-Tec stealth system!!!! and a de-cat!!! :)

Yeah I'd go for a SS system, sure they can be had for around the £200 mark. Least it's got a guarantee then.

Had the same back last November...but my car managed 58K! (Mostly motorway miles) Get another exhaust (not Renault) you'll lose the 4K rattle...it won't (or shouldn't) fail in the same place again. If you go custom, you can chhose the sound made and whether you want it stelath, cut through or sitting on show just beneath the bumper.

I went to Pro-speed, but they're in Cardiff (I'm in Telford, W.Midlands)...and its a bloody long journey from Ecosse down to South Wales!

Maybe a Sports Cat would be better...saves changing it at MOT time!

I had to do exactly the same lol , cut the bugger off . I'd just go for a full stainless catback . I had a stealth from powerflow in Burnley . Top blokes and only £270 fabricated and fitted , plus lifetime warranty . Sounded good as well :)

  Lots of Alfas
They always go there. If your putting a Renault one on dont just replace the rear mount. Replace the middle one aswell else the new one wont last long either. The rear depends on the middle to be strong aswell.
