Binding Ferodo DS2500 Pads

  Caterham/172/XC90/RX7
Fitted some Ferodo DS2500 and new discs to my 182 cup the other week

Cleaned the calipers etc thoroughly, copper slipped the pads as i've done many times before and they were sweet until last week.

When they're cold they're fine but as soon as theres some heat in them they begin to bind and catch on the discs, they've only had some spirited road use so far no track time yet and I bedded them in correctly.

Any ideas?? cos i'm stumped

Simon

take them out and check you've fitted them right they maybe not settled right you need to shave some material off them I think to make them fit well.

In case you haven't done so already, take off the anti-rattle springs. I have 2500s my 172 and they're fine without the springs. I wonder though if it is the new discs. Are they non-standard?

Dont know about the 182 due to lighter weight, but the 2500's sure didnt do the job for my V6 when i tracked it. I would say at least 3000's or a better brand, I am switching to Endless for my next set of pads

Hi guys, fitted these (ds2500) over the weekend, everything seems good, left the shims in and shaved the pad slightly at the top & back so the pads would seat snugg and the caliper retainer / piston would close properly.

Hhowever when going from left lock to right there is a clunk / click about one turn from full left. Most worrying

Noticed when fitting that the pads are so thick, that they go beyond the depression in the caliper/ piston assembly back where the grove for the anti squeal springs is.

Didn't take off the anti squeal springs either..

why do people remove the shims? and the anti squeal springs, and does anyone know why its clunking.

generally when you run race pads you remove the caliper shims

we've had a couple of DS2500's that need a slight grind to fit them

i have got the same problem with my ds2500 pads but the shims are removed and it's been Cooper greased them and they are free in the caliper's as well but it only happens when they get hot there OK for the first 15 min wont have them on for much longer now as they have had some abuse at cadwell park and there is not much left on them know .
