Well I've thought about getting it alloy welded but as it's so close to gear I don't think its worth risking it, best bet it to just source a second hand box, I'm talking to a couple people atm.

probably going to set me back £150 and a days work so not the end of the world, just cba to remove and refit, lol.

Right so, a couple more updates.

I've been having a bit of a mare with this replacement gearbox, I picked one up from a chap in London on Wednesday just gone, got it home and then decided to check the numbers to find it's the wrong one, what a tit I am for not checking it up their. turns out it was a jc5 130 and for the cup I need a jc5 129! the thing is the bloke is breaking a cup so I just thought it will be coming out of the cup. oh well, I wont make that mistake again, lol.

after a few calls with the bloke, it turns out he's broke a 182 before and this box is from that and the cup box is still in the cup. he's said he'll have it removed Monday and brought down to me Tuesday/Wednesday so not too much lost.

Next I noticed a couple lights flashing on the dash when braking, indicating etc, so thought bad earth somewhere, took the drivers side rear light off and found this

The calliper's, disc's and spacers were looking a bit worse for wear so gave them a quick spruce up

didn't do the rears because one of the callipers needs replacing, so i'll wait till the replacement turns up.

the oil filter was looking a bit rusty so thought I best do an oil an filter change.

also got the rear hub spacers on and the Carbon lorranine pads on.

Yeah annoying thing is I took the Friday off to do the job as well, oh well, it'll be all reet.

What did you paint the fronts with?

Just some high temp spray I got off eBay ages ago, cost about £7 delivered iirc.

Just the 130 box is missing the speedo drive iirc. Can't think of anything else?

Yeah the main difference is the speedo drive and they have slightly shorter gears.

So a couple more updates,

got the new gearbox in now, all went ok but 3 out of the 4 subframe captive nuts were seized in so they were a pain, don't you just love these things lol.

decided to put the cat back on when stripping it all down.

replacement calliper turned up for the o/s/r so got that on

and then gave the rear's a quick spray

Next i cut the away some of the metal bracket near the wheel arch linner as this is where you get rubbing on track.

The H&R coilvers were giving about -2 degrees with standard bolts and with the Bedford track day coming up i wanted a bit more camber so put these on and set to maximum, i now have about -3 degree's camber.

Those captive subframe nuts are a stupid idea. Luckily its not too hard to overcome with the right lengh socket for the fronts and a spanner for the rears.

Yeah they were a bit of a prick but got their in the end. I've put some new nuts and bolts on the front so if they ever have to come off again they should just come straight off.

yeah fairly easy to set up, I can do them for if needed. I definitely think your need spacers first though.

Yep spacers are a must first though.

I've only got a Sony Nex-5 but it takes some ok shots.

Not really done anything special tbh, couple bits and bobs but nothing worth shouting about.

Not made it any faster no Scott nearly bought some ITB's but aftermarket ecu's, loom's and mapping is just so god damm expensive! Makes it's hard justifying it. Especially with a mortgage always at the back of my mind.

Hi Nick, it made 167 bhp at SSR lol. Had a couple people look at the cam though the oil filler hole and have confirmed its on standard cams. God knows how it made 191bhp lol.
