Got given a ticket to this by my son that he got from work. So decided that I would go along and took the camera. Don't like Silverstone due to the catch fencing and not really knowing where the best place for photos is. Anyway had a really great day, the sun shone and there was some great racing. Plus I met Mark Blundell who was quite friendly. Also had a joke with Rick Parfitt and didn't mention his dad once.
Started the day at Copse and the first race was the VW Cup
Stayed there for the Ginetta race.
Then went for a stroll along the pitlane to meet the GT drivers.
A few autographs later had to leave the Pit Lane so back to Copse for the Formula 3 race. I hate trying to snap single seaters at Silverstone.
Then the main event of the day. The 3 hour British GT Championship race. A 47 car field with some of the most expensive production cars in GT3. The commentators said the grid was worth at least £14million.
Decided to stretch my legs and walked away from Copse for a better viewpoint.
Moved around the track and came across this
Ended up in the Grandstand opposite the start line
And the winner was:
Had a really great day. The noise of the Merc SLS was amazing.
