every time i open n shut the drivers side window theres a clinkin noice in the glove box only drivers side!

also do you have to take it steady for the 1st 600 miles!because its v hard ta resit not hammering it!!???????????

well i did not go above 4k rpm or 80mph untill i have over well 300 miles on it then i only took it upto 5.5k rpm 3 or 4 times untill today 670mile and i took her upto 6.5k in 1st, 2nd and 3rd which made me smile alot :D

cant help with the clunking tho.

Hey mate, i picked mine up yesterday...also noticed the clickin near glovebox on operation of leccy windows, quite sure its normal?!

I think mine may have a loose engine mount as on harsh decelleration theres a loudish bang as if the engine it moving too much or something!!

My 182s recieving (and i quote) a URP...Unique Run-in Period haha ;) I did quite a bit of research on here and came to the conclusion that blasting it now and then once extensively warmed up will do no harm, however saying that...mine has developed a problem in just 60 odd miles, quite sure it was there from the beginning tho!

Have fun with the car btw! Theyre awsome!
*change the oil after 1000 miles to remove all the crap thats accumulated during run-in...remember to use synthetic!

congrats m8 i would change the oil an filter after 1200 ish miles m8 cos the oil collects a lot of filings from the engine during running in period not everyone does this m8 but im gonna do mine shortly cos im on that mileage now 4 wot it costs may as well do it :D

is it best to take it steady for 600 miles??
The proper bedding in procedure has been written about a few times.

Basically in the first 20miles when the engine gets warm you need to hammer it to the red line to get the piston rings under some pressure to them hone against the block.

This idea of being gently to the engine is a manurfacturers idea as if something breaks early on them if the engines going slower it wont break as much so repair costs are less.

Ive read about these tests being done on motorcycles where they compare two bikes that were run in using the two different methods. The one that had the treatment edde recommends did produce more power albeit at marginally greater risk of engine problems many miles down the line probably after you have sold the car on to some mug.

HOWEVER

You are talking about very small percentages here. Like no more than a few bhp on a 182 and that level of differential is not unusual anyway between identical engines that are both run in identically.

So basically is it worth ranting your car when its new and the engine is tight just for the sake of 2 or 3 bhp (and thats not guaranteed)?

I personally will be taking mine steady for the first 1000 miles.

surely once the oils warmed you can thrash the living hell outta it? i dont get this wearing in gently stuff, what difference does it make?

if the glovebox makes the same noise when having the windscreen wipers on intermittent then it is the relay as said above, if not then its a different noise

mate im not been funny but i asked alot of people about this some engineers and 2 mechanics (each have 25+ years in the trade) every one said its aload of rubbish, the best way from an engineering point of view is to take it easy for the 1st few hundred miles then to build the revs up slow after you have done the 650mile as recomended drive it "normal" then after about 1000 drive how you like.

Sure no problem its upto you. My views and opinions cannot be proven but them again even people, with 25 yrs in the trade can be wrong not saying they are but not saying there not.

Jay maybe I wrote it wrong saying it should be thrased but you need to get the revs up no need to nanny it.

But its all down to you personal view, the engineering diferences between engines ie how parts are lined up can make just as much difference to power as the bedding in.

i think im gona take it steady but put me foot down now and again sure that wont hurt!!!!!
