Cheapest/ Best place to go for a Cam belt change in Midlands area?

Hello people,

My 2004 plate 182 is obviously past the recommended 5 year change but is now approaching the dreaded 72,000 mark (71,214 miles).

Could anybody recommend anywhere in the midlands that would do the change at a good price?

Already tried Renault Wolverhampton and as expected they pretty much told me that their going to help themselves to whatever is in my wallet!! Motorcade in Penkridge (where i brought the car from and have worked there) quoted me £500.

If anyone fancy's telling me what they paid for a clio sport cam belt change who isn't from the midlands, feel free. As this will give me an idea of how much i should be spending.

500 sound reasonable to me mate. Cheep dosent always mean good. If you get it done by some numpty can run like sh*t not putting out the power so go to a trusted place Imo.

I haven't used him but I'd be going to fred at BTM in brum mate. I will be going there next. You could call 4 ashes Renault specialists in wolves but they messed up a simple quote on aux belt kit and it was still higher than BTM quoted so...

Another vote here for BTM, Fred did mine about a month ago. Definitely knows what he is doing and prices are competitive as well.

if i didn't have rentech as i am very picky with who i trust with my cars, i would consider driving to btm! especially for big service like that!

I totally agree. Other than MOT time if it needs something doing, to Fred's it goes.

He can do them when I asked before but said its more trouble than it's worth for him. Which is fair enough. He's great for everything else though.

He sends them to a garage around the corner he knows well. I've never had an MOT there though.

Ahh ok, well a 50 mile round trip for an MOT is a bit far everything else though!

Wouldn't let anyone else in Birmingham area touch my car. Others claim to know what they are doing and people fall for it.
One of very few people that actually know how to time these engines properly.
