Clio 1400 Progress

Clio Progress thread
was a member on saxperience for a while and did up my saxo flatarch, here it is below, anyway bonnet catch failed ended not well so got a clio now lol

Anyway..
Picked this clio up very cheap and heres my progress that i have done on it in the last few weeks. Also when i got it it was completely standerd and very untidy.

Alloys
Not great alloys but since its a only 1.4 and they were destroyed i gave them a quick refurb £15 and keeping the small alloys to keep the bottom end power.

Window Stickers
Had some left over from the saxo so i fired them on this got them off ebay for a small cost £2.

De-Wiper
Pretty simple, take the boot pannel off and unbolt the wiper motor, then remove it from the car after removing the wiper arm, then remove the bit of trim on the outside of the glass and drill the hole out to the same size as the gromit that covers the wingmirror bolts then just put that gromit in.

Tint Lights
Bought some tint spray off ebay £8 and sprayed the rear lights and side repeaters, just pop the repeaters off and take the 1 thumb screw out of each back light, sprayed and then refitted

Spoiler
This was easy, bought it off ebay, £20 primerd then sprayed white, unbolt standerd
plastic and bolt on the new spoiler

Dials
Fitted some White dials, pretty complicated to do, i wont bore you lol

Tinted Windows
pretty simple just put the film on wet n smooth it out.

Clean engine bay
Cleaned it all out, painted engine with VHT black paint then did the airbox white.

Bonnet Flush
Started out flushing bonnet this is it mid way through still needs more filler and a respray again..............

wheel nuts and calipers
Both painted red, calipers got a refurb and resprayed, all wheelnuts painted red aswell

Lowerd 60mm all around
pretty simple, take nuts off top of dampers on the back and jack the car up, pull out the old springs and insert the new ones, then on the front end, take the bolt off the top of the strut and then remove the 2 bolts that seperate the strut.
once the struts are off, aply pring clamps, dismantel and rebuild with the new springs, should go on easyer as they are technicaly shorter.

Other Modifications
Fitted my kenwood headunit, blead the breakes, new greenstuff pads, Xenon headlights and some aeroflat wiperblades, will have more pics of it lowerd and so on soon......

I'd say get the bump strips colour coded next

had loads of cars went from clio 1.2 8v to 1.4 8v to Saxo VTR to
Clio 1.4 16v ( remaped and camed ) to clio 1.2 16v to Saxo Flatarch then converted it to a VTR to this all in 2 years lol

It was going pretty well until you attacked the rear lights. They're awful.

Get some Ph2 clusters on there instead.

Rite where to start had a bit of a buisy weekend since i got paid i threw most of it at the car and what a result

Bonnet Flush
Finaly got it finnished

Boot Flush
Epoxy resined the holes and then filled sanded and gave it a respray

Soundsystem
Fitted 2 x fusion ( crap i usualy get vibe ) Subs amplifier and wireing

Alloys
Next up i bought a set of 17x7" Multyspokes and tyres brand new and took a few photos

Done loads more just cant be botherd going into it lol also made
a short shift linkage, miles better

not too sure about the size of those rims though? they look huge!

also get the standard rear lights back, or PH2 rear lights.

smoked rear lights look chavvy to me.

They would look a bit better if they were 16's, look too big in my opinion, every1 to there own i guess, you would be better with ph2 rear lights as well

Just needs the boot lock surround, and side strips done White... 16s or 15s needed personally! 17s will f**k s**t up!

What made you change your mind?

You've lost all that bottom end power now.

if you have a cool car it dont need to be fast u have nothing to prove, i do all my racing on track so all i need for the road is a cool car, as for back lights, i like them so i aint gona change them, end off. next mods are a carbon fibre bonnet wrap paint alloys black so dont look so big with a red pinstripe and a red pin stripe around the carbon centre on the bonnet, u will see what i mean in a week or to, then getting a 3" backbox too tomorow

and the 17s will be fine got custom 73.1 by 60.1 spigots and performance bearings since im sponcerd in the raceing by a bearing company

Its the interwebs everyone expresses there opinion freely u just gotta take it on the chin, but i agree with everyone on the rear lights :dead: and the wheels seem to big to me

planning on smoothing out rear bumper and respray white along with smoothing in front bumper and moving washer jets to the plastic trim bit that goes around the wipers

I think your misreading? I complimented the flushed boot and bonnet.. I think that looks good.

However IMO I think that you would end up with a nicer looking car if you modified it similarly to Tunst's, instead of putting angel eyes and 17 inch alloys on it, and then blacking out the rear lights and carbon wrapping your bonnet (which I think looks chavvy).

Just some constructive criticism. But obviously do as you wish!

sprayed the too front interior pillars, top of dash with filler primer and black and then a sunstrip

Will mibi get pics later, resprayed my side bumpstrips and wiper blanking plate today looks miles better, not shure if i want to colour code front n back?
or if it will look better resprayed black????

thinking, white mirror caps on black back plates, n then black front bumpsrip and ph2 rear bumper with black painted bumpstrip???
