Cheap cold air intake.
Since ktr intake damaged my throttle body in 30k miles I ended up using stock intake with a little custom pipe.
And for those who ask how ktr intake damaged my tb...
A lot of dirt goes through the ktr air filter. I always (6k miles) clean and oil the filter, but ended up every month with a very dirty throttle body. Due to that dirt one used tb and one almost new one stuck and cause an engine warning light on dashboard.
So I use a 3" plastic (PP) pipe, same material as the airbox and with my skills (no) welded up using PP rods and hot air or soldering iron with custom pad.

I will use a silicon 90deg hose and an oil catch tank in the future. But for now I ended up with this little mod.

With a panel filter and one 3" pipe should be really fine and close to a uprates intake system.

Happy new year!
I just add an oil catch can onto my Clio. Soon will be added a fatty induction with Ramair filter and alloy elbow pipe, just removing the stock airbox.
Also, new cams for the turbo engine arrived.

The oil catch tank was a cheap ebay one, but with some bits inside. A pipe that goes to bottom and some metal mesh to be sure no oil will be on return hose. Also the return hose is connected into intale manifold to add a little vacuum.

Sump guard looks ace! Is it genuine renault?
Yes, it is genuine Renault one. The 172 and 182 does have all the holes for this guard. 4 does have threaded insert, the other 6 does not, but you have access to use a nylon nut. I only use 8 screws.
Thanks,
Radu

They have a solid plastic one from factory to be fair but these look better. They're steel I presume?

Yes, it is steel. I work about two hours to straighten it back, as it was bend. It is really good steel plate there. Very few rust spots on a 15 years old steel plate.

I bought a 65mm TB, but not a modified one, an original VDO one. After the AFR meter will be in place I will test it.

Just receive a new gift
MQcxvvT.jpg

And a busy day because the aux belt side became noisy and after remove the belt I figure out that the steering pump is leaking, the idler pulley and tensionar are worn, and also the alternator does not spin freely. So...
-new steering pump
-new alternator
-new aux kit

hope all parts will solve the noise:)

They are inside the wheel, yes.
You need to add more balance weight on the wheel when having them.
I test the tpms for a week now.
"BLE TPMS" is the only thing written on the box.

A copper hammer, a good vise and patience.

Make sure the surface is "flat" enough

Check both and paint them

Hope they will fit fine after this.
Also, should there be a small play into the solid mount? I think a tiny play should be otherwise the ball will be locked.

Thanks,
Radu

As I did not like the ktec induction kit due to having a lot of dust in the pipe and before fitting the oil catch tank I have small oil gunks around the throttle body I start building a box for the ph1 air filter.
The oe airbox is not that cheap and hard to find, so I buy some parts that I think will do the job.
The airbox itself is made out of PVC plastic to can glue it together is easy using PVC cement. I bought a cheap ph1 air filter an start working my way out.
The result:

nPHJOBQ.jpg2cPmDHE.jpg4SqglFq.jpg8ywqbFZ.jpgmXDeeZs.jpgsQiMsM7.jpgGvUsEE6.jpg

The air filter is secured with 5mm threaded rods, the inside of the airbox is 1mm shorter than the length of the air filter to have a tight fit and the lateral pipe has an 110mm outside diameter.

Next steps are:
-paint it black
-add heat shield protection
-fit on the car

Soon the brakes will be uprated a little with slotted rotors and ds2500 pads.
Using a paper air filter makes the car sooo quiet.
Does anyone knows the height difference between the seat runners? I have to build custom mounts for the seats. I've measured and came with a result, 34mm difference in height(between inner and outer seat runners), but want someone to confirm this as I am not sure.

I am starting to work on the car for this year. Since the last engine will be converted to turbo, the original engine will get a kind of rebuild
-new oil pump
-new cambelt kit and water pump
-mint cams with followers and tappets
-group N mapping
-new gaskets all around (without head gasket)
-new radiator and condensator
-MTC hoses
-PMS strut and top mounts
-refresh bushes (full poly bushes, pivots, rear beam bushes and so on)
-Sparco seats and half cage

Hope I will get on my first track day in the late summer.

Thanks,
Radu

In this weekend was the first time I ever tried to fit aftermarket seats on any car.
Right after this year starts I bought a pair of cheap sparco seats and after half an year I start working on them.

I use some steel flat bars and a welder to build a frame over the stock rails.

First, fit the rails and make sure are aligned

Measure and cut the flat bars

After a good wash of the car I will add some more pics :) This year also a half cage will be added (Hopefully).

Since the new engine went to another clio for another project, I replace all the seals on my current engine and with this I also replace the clutch and steering rack plus some other bits ready to be fitted with a fresh grp n timing setup.

I have also add a custom 63mm exhaust system, trophy replica spoiler and a pair of fk tail lights.

The custom mandrel for knocking the cam seals home is a good idea. I had to use an old crank pulley to do mine.

Ive had good success with 10 mins of toe out overall up front, turns in good, does not knack the tyres and not too skitty under braking. You can go more aggressive on toe out for track, or more neutral for ultra safe when on the brakes etc.

Not much of an upgrade, I've done 1500 miles running group N timing and there is quite an interesting setup. I've also installed and AFR meter to can watch a little how does the injectors and intake performs. I am running the stock air box with kn air filter and have a value of 12.5:1 on WOT. The interesting fact is that when switching to KTR intake (cleaned and oiled air filter) I've got a 12:1 on WOT, which means the stock air box performs better? Strange to me...The only mods I've done to the stock air box were connecting pipes and a bigger trumpet(?).
7gwaQkq.jpg

NdoB4Hr.jpg

Then on the same day switch back from KTR to stock air box and the AFR jumps back to 12.5:1.

good to see it going mate !
what was your choice of engine build in the end ?
Thanks mate!
Running stock cams with grp n timing. I would use 197 cams with same timing, but Chris could not help me at that moment. Untill turbo, it is great!
