clio 182 cant wait

  M135i, 118 coupe
well cant wait to pick it up tomorrow hpoefully i wont have the chav patrol trying to race all the time as there are alot of done up halford vtr vts and a hell of alot of hondas in my area, taunton if your wondering.Anyway i would want to do some tiny mods to mine ie induction kit,but ive read your forums and it seems as though the panel filters are best to go with im s**t with mechanical stuff so are they hard to fit, probably easier if i get k-tec to do it? Also at the mo i have a 92 mr2 2.0 na do you think the performance of my 182 is going to better it.Hope to hear from you all anyone live near taunton by the way?

Welcome mate, and good choice of car!

as you said, Panel filter is the better option. Induction will sound good but may lose power.

As of "tiny Mods" keep it subtle. top of the list must be the "cliosport" sticker from this site. Magnex exhaust maybe? recaros? (but these are as rare as rocking horse sh*t) other than that, the cars nice enough! just keep it polished to the nines!!

enjoy your ownership and get some pics up soon.!

The reason you loose power on a open filter btw mate (within reason), is because of heatsoak. Meaning the warmth the engine produces in the engine bay, gets sucked in, due to not having any shielding. A normal air flow pattern on a airbox setup is obviously enclosed air by plastic piping. Its so minimal though. For sound by the open filter, or if you got some cash, by a ITG/BMC etc. becuase there all enclosed filters.

I got mine on Saturday and I've got through 1 and a half tanks already. Thouroughly enjoyed using it all tho. In a few days time you face will be aching from the smile you get. Trust me:)
as for mods mine has a K+N filter which i'll be changing for an ITG panel in a few weeks. Also going down the exhaust route with a blueflame system. Enjoy. I am

Welcome and enjoy mate !!

I dont know much about the MR2, but i would take an educated guess that your 182 will out perform it.

As previously said, Induction kits can be affected by the engine heat; dense cold air is best for performance. If you still want a Ik then your IMO best getting a closed IK like the viper (i think) and run a cold airfeed somewhere, like the front bottom grill. Can also look smart if colour coded etc.

For a panel filter, ITG come highly recommended and are around £40-50. They are basically replacement filters for your standard airbox. They are better designed then your standard (cost saving) filter, pick up alot more dust etc... but improve airflow. Also, they dont need replacing for ages, just clean them and then re-apply their sticky oil.

Also very easy to fit. just undo the torx screws around the airbox and losen the connection to the arm, out comes the old filter, in with new, tighten everything up and away. Only specialist tool need is the torx.

Anyway, enjoy your new car mate.:D

Welcome to the forum

Panel filter is a good first mod to do ....go for ITG, Green or K&N and you can't go wrong.

Very easy to do....just requires the removal of the induction elbow (2 Jubilee clips) and 6 or 7 screws to open the airbox.

Good luck with it:D
