Clio 182 - Refurbishment and Modifications

  FRP - Clio 182
Looking good mate, the badge looks pretty level tbh, but imo should have been about an inch lower to match the clio badge.

The top grill also pops out, no need to remove the bumper.

Yeah I was not sure on the height but happy where its located. But yeah have seen a few different places people have chosen.

As for the grill I did try to remove it but it literally wasn't budging and if I pressed / hit it any harder it was going to damage it. Gave me a chance to clean up a little ;) Will be off again soon to fit the washer blanking plates.

Still looks good mate, and as you say, the bumper only takes 5 mins to remove

Also this evening I have managed to source some Cup 172 Turinis, I am having them re-sprayed in the same paint code as the car (Titanium Silver MV647) they might be ready as early as next Thursday then its just a case of swapping my tyres over once ready.

So this might mean the Spoiler will have to wait until next month but really happy to have the wheels sorted so early.

I will be selling the front 20mm spacers if anyone is interested, I will be moving the 16mm rear spacers to the front and fitting 10mm axle spacers on the rear. This should take in to account the difference between the standard Clio 182 wheels (ET45) and the Cup wheels (ET38.5)

Just had a text back this morning from a mate in the trade and he said his chap will do it for £150 to £200 depending on the condition of the spoiler, a much better price. As I have bought the wheels this month the spoiler will now need to wait until next pay day. But I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

Remaining items:
Refurbished steering wheel
Replacement OEM mats
Spraying and fitting of spoiler
Clean and spray front and rear callipers in silver

Then its back on to the FRP, to have the wheels refurbished and the bonnet sprayed for the 15 year anniversary.

Just been told that my wheels are ready and have been sent a photo, I have had them painted in the same colour as the car, as in exact paint code, I really hope it works and that I don't regret not having them done in the brighter silver that they are on the 172 Cup.

Sweet ! That looks amazing. Should have got them to do the spoiler at the same time unless thats powder coating.

Painting of the other bits will have to be next month, spent this months budget.

Looking great. I will need to PM you soon to get part numbers/links for all the wee bolts to freshen things up if OK

Yeah no worries buddy any time.

Wheels look fantastic mate. Bet you can't wait to get them on!

What is the difference between turini and cup alloys?

Apart from the colour they have different offsets, the Cup offset is ET38.5 and the Trophy are ET45, so the Cup wheels stick out 6.5mm further out the arch than the Trophy ones.

So I will be shifting my spacers around so that I don't face any rubbing issues.

First off must say what a fantastic day weather wise felt like early spring.

So today I set about painting the front callipers as they will stand out a lot more once the Turinis are fitted.

A few before and afters, you will also see I partially cleaned up the arches but little point this time of year going all out on them.

Finally collected the Turinis and really really happy with them and the paint colour, there was a chip in one of the wheels which needed touching up so I small mount of Hammerite Silver Smooth was used, leaving a close enough match:

Applied some wheel sealant, well I thought I had but I had in fact put wax on, didn't check the pot, tomorrow I will apply the correct product, I couple of layers won't hurt :)

Hoping to have the wheels fitted once night this week, but I might just wait until next weekend.

You will notice that the caps where not sprayed so when the spoiler is sprayed next month I will get them done to suit.

Was mates rates, and for the price I paid its fine, also I think I might have done it myself. Its okay as you cant see it now after the touch up, gonna put a thin layer of clear nail varnish over it so it will be even less noticeable.

Right finally went to get the Turinins fitted, annoyingly I didn't take the shorter wheel bolts as forgot the rear spacers needed to be removed. So the car has only the front set on until Tuesday.

So the setup previously:

ET45 20mm spacer front and 16mm rear

New setup (or will be once rear spacers are replaced with axle spacers)

ET38.5 16mm front spacers and 10mm rear spacers.

The black centre caps where really letting the look down so out came the NitroMors:

Sprayed with some silver rattle can I had and some lacquer and refitted and look a million times better:

When the spoiler is sprayed I will have them done professionally but for now I am happy with the outcome.

Noticed I am missing the side repeater but pretty certain I have sourced a spare already.

They look fantastic fitted

Yeah mate really pleased with how they have come out, so glad I went for the same paint colour. Just the spoiler to go them its on to my 172 Cup, which I've put a deposit on

Looks good mate, only thing I could see was the about me details in a different language and perhaps the gallery photos instead of selecting a pic then going back to select another perhaps there could be next or previous arrows to select the pic but these are minor and don't want to sound critical, keep up the good work

Looks good, think it may be a case of you need to put something in there as it may be set to a default language but like I said I tired I'm going to bed, that's my excuse anyway lol

No update for a while as I have purchased the Cup and concentrating on that at the moment, only really need the Spoiler spraying and fitting at some point.

Just been through your thread again but I can't seem to find it you managed to fit the 20mm grommets in the front bumper in place of the washer jets.

  FRP - Clio 182
No buddy I haven't trial fitted them as yet, I have got the blank washers which I will probably end up fitting, but I will still trial them and take some photos for you.

Few updates on this as its been a while, lost the lights on a long drive back at night so had to use the side lights and fog lights, however after checking the fuses today I noticed that one of the relays had been knocked out, after refitting it resolved the light issue.

So to other owners out there watch where passengers swing there feet ;)

Then it was on to the issue with the A/C not working, managed to find this solution on line so gave it a go this evening:

The damaged cog

The simply fix once getting to it

I checked the A/C and it didn't seem to be cooling so I need to ensure that I have but the motors back on correctly.

Worth noting that replacing this part is £600+ job as its around 10+ hours, so a great fix and has worked for loads of owners so hopeful it will work for me.

Gave the interior a much needed wipe down and a good hoover, still impressed how well it comes up especially as the car is about to hit 100,000

Still some good beading, but will need a good treatment for the autumn and winter seasons.

Really want to fit the Trophy spoiler but it needs spraying and spending money on the Cup at the moment.

Oh and put a little paint on the curbed wheel, should have sanded it back tbh, but started raining, will get them powder coated some time next year and the paint finish isn't great on them.

Other thing to address is a fault with the headlight and windscreen washers, makes the usual sound but no fluids coming out, bloody french and there electrics. Open to suggestions on this please.

So its been almost a year without an update, not a lot has changed on the car since my last update, I have however found time this weekend to give it a summer detail as it was looking very sorry for itself, just clicked on to 107,000 miles now yet its still looking great.

I still have the Trophy replica spoiler to fit and I am taking it for spraying at a local company this week, so hopefully on Sunday I can get it fitted.
