Looking into a Torsen diff and found out that PMS are now supplying Sachs race clutches so don't have to get that from Germany now...

So finally will be able to skat the shitty helix clutch over the hedge and slap a LSD in at the same time without having to sell my body for funds!! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Diff ordered yesterday, looking at mid November for delivery!! Got to get it done before April, we are off to the ring again.... This time for my own stag do! Only a need to fit Brembos, diff, clutch..... Oh and get a civic turbo ready with @DV8 finish off the mk2 golf gti 20vt and hopefully my mate will have his Honda integra finished with the K24 engine turbocharged!!

So not a lot to do

PMS brackets and brake lines came today, just waiting on my mates to machine my discs and I can fit it all, looks sexual!

I ordered pinball machine parts from Holland and got 2 packs of Haribo, what's with that? Wasn't complaining though as I have a sweet tooth! Car looks awesome Incy, a lot of impressive work, I enjoyed reading the whole thread:up:

Gearbox time... Have wondered how to go about fitting my new LSD without taking my car off the road for too long as I need it everyday!

Recently bought a secondhand box off of a chap in Newquay who was breaking his track 182, this was to fit into my mums 182 as hers crunched into 3rd and for £40 was worth a gamble, turns out it's perfect for her...

So this leaves me with a fairly knackered gearbox to use, anyway pulled it apart to find 3rd gear dog teeth knackered, syncro rings worn and the reverse hub so a fair spend needed to get it working with seals and extras on top, but think I'm going to pursue with it so that I know it's going to last and won't potentially need to do it in the future with my own box which is mint at the mo and looks brand new!!

While the machine did the milling we played a bit with the K24 turbo build, took some pics because I likes it..

Diff is in, had a bit of a clearance issue in the hex bolts on the LSD so had to shave the edges off, but nothing serious..

LSD is now fitted into casing and preload all set up with genuine Renault washers which vary in increments of 0.05 but feels spot on... This job is taking a while due to funds but getting there, good thing to bear in mind when someone says 'put an LSD in' there is a bit more to it than that if you are doing it right!!

Although I've been following this for quite a long time I've just been a silent observer.
Really have done a cracking job on the car, one of only a few people who haven't done a drive in drive out boost build which is great to see. Much inspiration to progress to boost but hopefully without the manifold nut issue!

Hats off.

So just removed the clutch to replace with my new Sachs performance clutch and the old helix is in a bit of a state to be honest,

Down to the rivets already and it's only done 12k tops although there was a nürburgring ring trip on it too it's pretty crap IMO so not only has it been making annoying sounds from day one it turns out it's made of cheese too... Haha! Luckily I have a spare flywheel as its chewed that up a bit too. JUNK!!

So box is back in, few odds and ends sorted too.. Found a melted wire behind the heat shield that explains why I have had a random flashing brake warning light coming on!! It was the level sensor cable, rewired that and relocated so happy I spotted it! Little water leak on the coolant hose on the turbo needed a new clip, new rear main oil seal fitted too. Subframe back on tomorrow after new arms are fitted and should be back in action with mega traction!!

Top work looks good. I had the same issue on mine with melted wires behind the turbo for the abs pump earth and brake fluid level

I agree with the helix clutch mine done around 11k was slipping bag of s**t

Mine didn't slip yet but was only a matter of days looking at it, the Sachs is a pleasure to drive so far, pulling away is sweet now... No noises, dragging and all the other shite that came with the helix. Happy!!

  HBT 172 Cup
Wish i got 12k form my helix, i didnt even see half of that :tonguewink:

Sachs clutch looks interesting, but will it do 360ft lb?, im guessing unfortuantely not :(
