I like this car and i like your garage!

Cheers, when I first joined your Ph1 Flamer gave me inspiration for this one :)

Lol. Herbertez would be right. It's worse than polishing it. I'm cleaning bits to then paint them. My old man always said, if it's worth doing, do it properly. But he'd have a fit if he saw me painting stuff! You can talk, I hear you have gone all cosmetic ;)

Cheers Jacob! Hopefully it will be blatting around tracks next summer like it should be :)

Cheers all :) I plan to spend most of my Sunday in the man cave.
TimR26, cheers for the offer, today is mostly painting which is pretty much a one man job. But...I am hoping to put aero catches on it which I will require assistance from you and Christopher. :) x

He did buy me a hot dog and a beer afterwards.

I consider that ample payment. ;)

Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project

Further progress made last night. Thanks to Chip-mk1 who came over to remove the 438 cams and kindly educate me further! Was good to catch up mate, shame we were so late we couldn't get some proper fodder in.

Overall I am still revelling in being able to work on the car myself, and soaking up as much technical know-how / guidance from friends as I can. Last night was another great chance to learn a few key things about the F4r and dismantling one / putting it back together :)

Getting started;

Progress, including oil draining, coolant draining, engine mount off, jacking the engine up from below, loosening up the slam panel etc etc

So thats what a set of 438's looks like in place ;)

And the obligatory Chip photo. Thumbs up from the chipipedia :)

Up next - persuading Mike Woodford to do a leak down on the new engine, before its cleaned and painted. And Budgie and Nick172Cup are coming over to do a removal job of the old one on 14th Dec :)

The old one will then become a coffee table.
