Cup Alloys Rim Corrosion

  2016 Audi RS3
The rims on my Cup alloys appear to be slightly pitted/corroded.

It is very strange, as the corrosion stops in exactly the same place on all the spokes, almost like there is a barrier on the wheels. Is this a known problem, was was the paint around the rims poor/faulty resulting in the corrosion mentioned?

Here is an image. You can see the very definite line betwen the spoke and the rim. It is the same on all the wheels, although the fronts are worse I'm assuming because of more brake dust.

Sorry about the quality of the picture, I will get a better one tommorow in daylight. I tried polishing one of the other rims and that seemed to remove some but not all of the marking. :(

  porsche 944 - 80's ftw!
Thats the reason i got mine refurbed, they let the rest of the car down.

Expect to pay around £150 - £200 to get them refurbished properly depending on if you choose a colour change etc.

It is quite dissapointing really. The wheels on my Golf GTI are in better condition and they are 17 years old :(

I agree, the Cup rims make a nicely kept car look like it's been driven without tyres on. My front wheels are a mess (some kurbing involved) and they are now just flaking away with every wash! The back whels looks okay but are 'bubbling', without any contact. I often wonder if people think I don't care about my car, when I do.
