Book says 5W40 for the 2.0 litre engine so I'm going get them to change it
Techs dont sit there all day reading people's service book looking to see what the oil grade is. They use the oil thats in the pumps (10w40) as thats all thats supplied. Wont cause any probs, it just aint the best oil to use..
But the manual isn't the rule. The spec is and the spec states you can use it.The maintenance books says (I quote)
For the Clio 2.0 16V Renault Sport engine and V6 engine for the Megane II 2.0 T engine, use ACEA A3 5W40 standard oil
Sh*te english I know but that is exactly what is written
the thing is last time this garage used the right stuff

Thats why Im always curious as to why people pay silly money for all this silkolene/motul s**t if you arn't planning on keeping the car for AT LEAST 5years plus then its not going to effect you.
it says oxo on buses but they dont sell em !!!
The service book isn't as I'd said the rules. There right within there rights to use that oil.Tosh. It's not in the manual - it's in the service (maintenance) book which is the record the car is properly maintained and hence SPECIFIES the schedule and what work is to be carried out. Anyway, I shall be taking it up with them
They have the service manaul says you ca use it (which you don't have).it's going back in for warranty work anyway. I'm sure you're right that in reality in makes no difference, put if you pay a premium to get a Renault stamp in the book the least they can do is carry out the service as per the book
Your point being ? Even seen how much a garage costs to run how muhc people want how efficiently they work how much they cost to train to get the PC's tools ramps taxes pensions company tax etc or how difficult it can be to keep truly accurate start and end times for jobs.it's all a f*cking joke. I took it in at 08:15 this morning and from the sheet I can see they started work at 16:17. So £225 for less than an hours work.
and you've moaned about them using 'the wrong grade' when they haven't as it's still within the grades they can use etc. RiiightMe? Get my hands dirty I'm only interested in thrashing them

Remind me never to buy a car off of you

Unless you stand over them while they do it, you won't know.
