I live near the sea and the seagull s**t is a problem, I usually try to get it off before it gets baked on however I missed a big bit on the bonnet. I got it off with Bilt Hamber Touchless ok, but the paint is etched, how do I go about getting rid of that? You can see the worst bit next to the washer jet.

Going to need to be polished out unfortunately.

Being so close to the windscreen washer, that will be a fun one too!

Got a MAMMOTH job in this weekend. A gloss black (with black pack! 🤦‍♂️) paint correction on a Mitsubishi Shogun.

Whole car - 2000 wet flat, 2500, 3000, polish.

Fml. 😂

The seagulls in the background is so ominous 😂😂😂

Looks amazing, such a satisfying colour when clean.
I have to wear headphones instead of using the stereo as the noise they make is mental.

It’s only me working on the whole estate on a weekend so f**k knows who they’re shouting at, feathery incontinent c***s.

@Daniel can you explain in layman terms how your company affords to prep cars so well yet, I assume all other places you have worked can't?

Now simple answer, profit on each bonnet and I'm assuming reputation built on quality of cars for sale... But that level of work is still rare as f**k.

I know automotive addiction were one of the first guys I knew to start prepping cars to the highest standard. Polishing and coatings etc but it's just nice to see. That to me is how a "new car" to someone should look.

It’s just good business mate. My worst fear is and always has been; if he takes that home, will his neighbours think we sell s**t cars?

It’s pointless prepping them badly and customers not thinking ‘wow’ when they see it. As soon as they see it they want it. Less viewings and faster turnaround in the end. For a days extra prep, it’s a no brainer for me.

I'm with Daniel. That is how a car should be presented to someone. It's their "new" car. I remember a guy I had known for years. Picked up his nearly split new F10 M5, sapphire black. Looked alright from the outset. He always got me to clean his cars, so I did and coated it etc.

The difference in how that car looked versus how it was presented to him in the showroom after spending maybe 60k+ was night and day. That's how he should have picked the car up.

The difference in the depth of black from some milky mess was incredible.

Keep up the awesome work potato!

I've used gorilla tape (clear mounting tape) with great succes, wouldn't stick it directly on paint though.

I was a bit disappointed with BMW when I bought my brand new M140i. I refused to do the midnight thing as it was the 1st September so they did a little gathering for the new registrations sales at midnight which sounded the worst thing ever. So I picked it up in the morning and it wasn’t in their collection garages with a nice cover on to be presented but was around the back covered in dust. Like I’ve just spent a lot of money and you couldn’t even be bothered to clean it?! It wasn’t as if I randomly turned up and it wasn’t ready, I turned up at my appointment. Or they could have washed it and put it in their massive underground car park.

It’s currently forecast to be sunny all day so I’m making the most of being on holiday and going to wash, polish and wax the Z3.

The joys of having no neighbours no one can judge me for always washing cars which they did where I used to live. Plus no one will know if I use a hose pipe if we have a drought….🤫

I need some more of that high strength ebay acid wheel cleaner. Has anyone bought any recently and got a link?
Its the stuff that gets rid of hard baked on brake dust.

What's the best finishing polish at the moment? Low dust, easy to work etc. My car was washed by the fuckwits who last serviced it, having expressly told them not to, and it looks like a spider on crack had a go over the paintwork.

I really love using the rupes white ultra fine. White pad it's such a classic combo now for refining and I've never failed with it yet.

Or, grab a lightish polishing pad and some sonax perfect finish. Also never failed me especially for nicking out marks and marring.

It's been a favourite of mine for going on years now.

Thanks as always buddy. Few marks here and there to nip out as you say. Bloody fox was clearly ice skating on it too.

Love the Sonax perfect finish too but for ease of use as long as the marks aren't too bad I absolutely love Car pro essence. I love the fact you don't have to worry about residue or anything it's just polish and then whatever sealant/wax you fancy on top.

My car is 5 years old now and not been machine or hand polished yet. I been using a hydrophobic shampoo from new and past year the hydrophobic effect is loosing effect. I have been using the Gyron Wet Coat to give it done boost which helps. I’m just wondering what will give the paint the hydrophobic effect back without machine or hand polishing?

To be honest I have always wanted a proper detail on my car professionally but it’s a lot of money, some of the lads on here did my Clio 172 getting it machine polished all those years ago round my house

It's all about the prep. You can lash some hydro stuff on but won't last nearly as long as prepping the best you can.

How can I extend my DAS pro to reach really tight spaces? The standard setup bumps the “head” of the machine on surrounding panels and paint.

They do sell extension bars for them.

However.

If you're shooting for really tight spaces, dont bother. You'll need a new machine. Consider the 'throw' of the machine (in other words, how far left-right, up-down in a sense) it is going to move. If you reduce the pad size, the throw wont become less so a smaller pad will be really quite unstable (ask me how I know). This is where the mini machines will work a lot better.

All depends on budget vs what you're shooting for. I bought a mini rotary for a job I had coming up and it was a lifesaver. Albeit rotary is quite a different beast.
