dmallett's indecisive clio thread! Monaco ph2 pg1+, Titanium ph1 pg31+, PB ph1 pg43+

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

I have drawn some unwanted attention from a certain authority so making my car noisier/illegal probably isnt the best idea for the time being.

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

This car has a decent dash from the word go, though I did notice the centre fan didnt move together the other day so me being me i tried to fix it. I now have an open vent/fan :(

as that makes no sense here is diagram i made,
b.jpg

what wrong with the vent? have the slats fucked up?

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

i had a broken vent too ! the middle bit with the on/off wheel actually pops out then you can just put it all back into place and pop it back in again !! spent ages trying otherways.

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

Got a TRS 4 point harness for £20, same as what i had in the ph1 but this ones 4 point rather than 3.

Then last night i picked these up, full brembo brake kit that G172 sells. i know everyone says go genuine rear discs but for the price i couldnt resist getting these. The front pads are already up for sale, see my other threads ;).

I will be fitting mintex m1155 front pads when I manage to get to 519 to pick them up. Also need to find some front braided hoses. Got until the ring trip at the end of may to sort this out :)

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

I purchased some Mintex rear discs with abs ring and bearings pressed in and Mintex rear pads for £67.95 delivered! Get them front pads in quick as I will need new pads soon so want more options ;) Not that happy with ds2500

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

Done 2 rear bearings on non genuine disks in the last 2 days ;)

Can sort you HEL lines out when you have the pads if you want. There's already ATE super blue fluid in it.

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

The brembo rear disks come with the SNR bearings so the same as genuine so i'm sure they will be fine Dan (Mallett) Hope you have a good time at the Ring, Wish I could drive mine on a TF day I would be there all the time lol

Yeh well go for a drive once i get them, well test them in the same way we did the ones currently fitted ha,
By the time i sell the front pads i got, factor in the cost of the front discs and your price looks expensive ;) saying that ive c**ked up these have no abs rings fitted ha.

You coming to the meet later?

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

I'm pretty sure there's superblue in it anyway. I did a load of cars with it before my ring trip last year, manic few days.

I'm not about this week but bell me soon.

Once your out racing again youll know the hard works worth it and a trip to the ring wont seem quite as appealing!

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

Took car shopping and it was fine, went to use it now and it won't start, just makes a click? Dash lights up as normal,

goto lock car and the radio/dash light up?

DAfuq? So any suggestions to what to check let me know!!

It may just start tomorrow lol, also can't bump start it as its on my drive way parked the wrong way on a slope :)

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

Starter motor just clicks do you mean?

Might be that the battery is flat or the solenoid is jammed on the starter motor?

In which case hit it with a hammer

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

Danny is coming round at 9,30 to try diagnose it :)

if your really bored feel free to come Rhys, though you do have a track car to build ha

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

I would love to mate. Will see how my day goes as I have got our living room to decorate. Text me tomorrow :)

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

That's alright then,

just got home, checked the cars locked with the fob and as I press it the fan turned once lol, I'm hoping this is something simple playing weird games!!

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

Hoping its just the battery, got a volt reader off my dad but its mega confusing so ill wait until tomorrow to do some super investigation work lol

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

Jump started and it ran fine, both battery and alternator are reading about 14v, took it for a drive and its fine.
Get back, turn it off and try to restart it and the same thing again just clicks?

Next step is to swap the battery over, hoping that will be the end of it then :)

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

And that's on the wiring not the actual battery, did think it would be impossible for the battery to be gone!

Same thing happened at the ring in my ph1 so I should've checked that straight away rather than thinking the world had ended ha

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

So last night the car wouldnt start, DannyR kindly came round and after pissing about with the volt meter and everything working fine we were stumped. Later on i went to disconnect the battery and realised the sorry state of the connector to the battery terminal.

Quick trip to the local motorfactors once the car was bodged using abit of heat shield and i picked up a new connector, fitted and it now works a treat. The central locking also works from my front door which it didnt used too lol

Then whilst i was there i thought i would swap the rear brakes for the ones i picked up last week. Standard replacement brembo discs and pads.
I fitted the abs rings which was easier enough and got on my way.

Old V New,

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

Bit of a random day, swapping rear discs and pads on a mate cars when we noticed the rear caliper was leaking. After ringing everyone/everywhere i couldnt get hold of a replacement. Chancing it i rang Dan @ 519 and he pulled through and had a spare, why is this relevant?
Because it gave me a chance to pick up a set of Mintex M1155 pads :)

Then Rhys Beal offered to lend me a hand to fit them as neither of us had anything better to do on a saturday night ha,

Rhys turned up at 10.30 and got stuck in!

Whilst I used the dremmel to take the edges off the pads. My neighbors must love me!

We then took it out bed them in, first thoughts are they feel really good and firm braking. Cant wait to get a few more miles on them and really hammer them in as they are looking really promising!

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

I have some friends that have a facebook page 'midnight garage' sounds like you guys need to start the '2am garage'.

Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco

It was good work, in reality it didnt take us long at all if you didnt count the standing about talking/me pissing about with random stuff.

Braided lines next, i can use my new brake bleeding tool then ;)

Rhys also tried to detail my car with brake cleaner, it didnt even touch the grime on the surface lol
