Do I swap my Impreza for this 172? Advice needed!

Scoob: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1704532.htm

2 owners (I'm the 2nd), FSSH, 85k, read ad!

Bad bits: chip in windscreen, scratches and scuffs here and there, s**t on petrol, decatted so it's stupidly loud and the engine management light is on, tyres wearing down a bit.

Clio: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1707932.htm

5 owners, FSH, belts recently done, 66k, completely standard, no problems that the current owner knows of. Faster than the Scoob and better on petrol.

The 5 owners (current owner is the 5th) bit seems genuine, just people getting bored and selling it on.

Mine is hard to sell as it's the non-turbo and modified too, I don't want to keep reducing it then kick myself because I should've swapped for the Clio.

Would you do a straight swap? Or is the Clio overpriced?

i think there both overpriced tbh in the current car climate i mean.a swap looks a fair deal on both parts.plus it may be the only guy who wants a non trubo scoob over a 172 so snap his hands off lol

Yep I'd swap too. The 172 has full history and all MOT's which is as it shud be. No belts etc to do as they've been done. Get her swapped!

Not really.

If you do buy, il have 15 inch white turinis for sale soon which would look mint on the black ;)

Not overly, as long as the history is there. The car may have been a demo etc. so that may explain it. Also, people do get easily bored and sell on. What's the current owners reason for sale?

Fancies a change, he's always wanted a Scoob and the turbos are too much on insurance. He said he wants it just for looks and noise, which is why I bought it haha. It seems as though he's really into cars though, not just performance wise so he seems genuine.

Reckon you'd be lucky to get the guy to agree to the swap to be honest.

on the face of it you'd get the better deal.

5 owners could be an issue - put in some deal breakers and take along an expert to the swap to have a good look over the car.

I assumed the other guy had contacted him about the swap?

He was the one who asked me! Mine's worth more too. He says just a straight swap, no more no less.

Didnt have a real problem insuring your 1.2 at a decent price because of your postcode? Take it insurance is ok/ managable now?

Meet the guy haf way. Make sure you take a mate with you and make sure you give the car a good thrashing to ensure everything is as it shud be! Haha! Just check for the usual, engine mounts, play in steering etc. All the panel gaps etc. in his photos look spot on and it's HPI clear looks a good motor! If you go now you'll meet him in daylight. Do not buy the car in the dark!

I would go for it mate, just give a good check over in daylight. Tbf 2 and a half hours is not to bad.

I would add my 2 penith-

How much do you ACTUALLY value yours for-

The Clio is overpriced on an 02 plate- your looking close to 3-3.3 ish-

With that in mind it depends what you thinkl you will get for yours-
I would want a swop + £300/400 cash to be happy-

Yeah, this is how I feel really. I'm keeping my Scoob :)

Honestly mate, don't worry.

I just sold a 9 owner 2002 model and it sold within a week of advertising. (Admittedly mine was £2995 though)

The only thing is though the lad has only had it a month and is selling it on. Like I was saying to Jamie it could be a genuine sale but alot of people seem to try and do someone else over when selling/buying cars, so it makes you very wary.

I personally (although I'm not a fan of the scoob) think financially you'd be doing yourself over.

Why on earth someone would want an Impreza for it's "looks" is beyond me... That's like dating Cheryl Cole cos you like her accent!
