RE Ecotek Valves

The excellent Clio Sport web site now has their own Ecotek fitting guide, click on this link: www.cliosport.net - go to Articles - then Cliosport Articles then Ecotek - they confirm it definitely makes more than a noticeable difference!

Someone should contact them with the truth, the fact everybody on here thinks they're shite!

Funnily enough i have No. 40. Standard but for stealth exhaust and K&N. Just used the RStuner with group N map and love it even more, power delivery is much better. Might add decat but have kept everything so i can put it back to standard if i fancy it. Lucky enough just to have it as a toy really, not my main car so plan to keep it for a while and see how the values go.

this is pretty cool quite a few owners are coming out of the woodwork :)

ive kept all my bits too ie headunit etc so i can put the bits back on if i need to i think its a good thing to do on a limited editon model

iam tempted by this group n remap everyone has said good things

will it get more power or will it just use the power more wisely??

do they remap the original ecu or is a new one fitted???

what about dissconecting the battery does this reset to factory ecu settings??

is it noticeable??

thanks peeps hope your all having a good1

Thanks bud! Sold it just over 3'5 years ago now... I part ex'd it for my the 182 i used to have. It was certainly still about 8 months ago.. as it turned up on the fore court of a local independant dealer..! Didnt look as good as it did in the pics there tho. I'm led to beleive some woman had it after me.. she clearly didnt appreciate having a nice car.. boooo.

I'd like to get another one sometime.. lovely cars..

defently looks good in them pics hopefully its still around making someone else smile did you rack up many miles in that one??

mines got 58,600 on it now slowly creeping up

I'm afraid - from experience - you are wrong on that one. If fitted properly you don't need any other mods.

My correction, the Redline is at 7,800.

Have a read of people views of the ecotek valves on here, they aren't worth it at all. I have a few mates who have had them too & they said the same.

Also your redline will not be 7,800 unless you've had it raised.

when i took an ecotek valve to get fitted on my 1.25 fiesta the mecanic held it in his hand and laughed :) i guess thats how good their rep is in the garage/mechanic industry

that is correct.... Although saying that, reading his post it says it has a Group N ecu lol
And ecotek's are absoloute pap... the kinda thing 17 year olds put on their escorts...

This kind of slur really annoys me. I am 30 years old, and have driven a lot of cars, and owned a fair few too. Call me a liar if you wish. At the end of the day, I have experienced benefits from the Ecotek valve on a range of cars. On the 172 there is no obvious improvement in performance although lower down the rev range it does appear smoother, and there is certainly an improvement in fuel consumption. As for the redline being at 7,800, it is... but hey ho... I must be lying.

People are of course entitled to opinions. However, it is simply not acceptable (nor terribly inviting to new members) for so-called (call themselves in fact) experts to condemn a person's every word, and make snide comments about them on a public website.

I remember this kind of behaviour from before when I was Jon1978 some years ago, and no matter what you said there would always be some individual who would contradict you... your car could have been white.. you could be looking right at the thing and post a picture online... and someone would say "no, it is definitely black".

It's such a shame, because essentially Cliosport is an excellent, well thought of, club - Jase did a great job! Also, I have met a lot of really nice people from being a member (some of whom I have lost touch with - oops, sorry).

My opinions are my opinions - fine to say "In my experience, I have found that Ecotek valves are of no use" but to put sarcastic and arrogant comments followed by lazy text speak "LOL"s and the like, is offensive.

Also, if you contact "Automotive Solutions" in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, they will fit the Ecotek and will not laugh at you at all.

hi mate dont take it personally iam sure the comments arent generally aimed at you but at the ecotek valve as people have probs spent money on them and been annoyed it didnt work on their car after such promises on the web and packing etc

bottom line is its your car do what makes you happy

:)

have a good1 mate and take it easy :)

JPandDeb - read the bit I put about the red line on the car, as I said it won't be 7.8 unless you (or someone else) has had it raised. Standard (as from the factory) is not 7.8k at all.

As for the ecotek valves, if you like them that's all that matters. I on the otherhand (and many others on here) think they are a waste of time.
That's the point i'm making.

The car is not standard as from the factory. The redline on MY car is at 7,800rpm. Does that clarify things?

Group N remap?

do you mean its got a standard map from the factory? like all cars do

incase you werent aware group N rally cars are standard production cars straight from the factory. so group N = standard

In response - I can't tell you what difference it makes, as I did not have it carried out. I have just bought the car. All the work had been done prior to me getting it. It cost £294. I will get the paperwork out and find out where it was done, but I believe it was in Bournemouth.

In response to yet another clever t**t, the car has had a K-Tec group n remap of the existing ECU. It is not standard. It cost £294 and was carried out in July of this year. There's always one isn't there, and today it's you.

Just to clarify... as I can understand it could be misunderstood...

My initial statement meant to explain that the above person was correct (in normal circumstances) however in this case it seems you have a group N ecu so this is more likely to be true. The 'Lol' was because if the person had read your post they'd realise that it did... and the comment 'unless you've had it raised' is made to look stupid.

As for LOL being text speak... stop being such a grandad!

Oh and ecoteks are still funking shite.

If you see the 'shift light' it means you're too late changing gear, so you're doing alright ;)

Hi Guys,

Jonathan - glad you are enjoying the car. Sorry again that the immobiliser is playing up for you. Hope it doesn't take the shine off of buying it and it is sorted as quickly, easily (and cheaply) as possible.

As for those of you wondering about the ECU remap, all you need to know is here:

http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=1966

Also, the Exclusive doesn't have a shift light. Dunno why, though!
