FAO Techys/Traders/Fred etc - Loom Fuse

  Skoda Fabia vRS
on the Clio wiring loom is a fuse which is kinda built into the loom, have any of you ever found a part number for a replacement or know of any methods/parts to replace it

on the parts prog (dialogys) and to the best of my knowledge it isnt available sep from the full loom which is ~£400+vat, which even though im used to Renaults silly niggly things such as this, seems a bit mental at the best of times

  Nimbus 197, Ph1 172
If its a fuse, surely you could find an equivilant rated fuse and build that into the loom, possibly making it replaceable at the same time?

I know the fuse you mean, its right next to the battery positive terminal on the starter lead.

Il try and find out what ampage rating it is, later renault models used a replaceble fuse, you can get these in different ratings. You would be able to cut the blown fuse off the loom, crimp a terminal on and the add one of the replaceble items.

if its one of those big ones that say CAL1 or CAL2 then IIRC they are 150A but im not sure

No they must be bigger than that mate surely?? I changed a replaceable one the other day on a renault master 2.5 and that was 500A.

The higher compression on a diesel will draw a much higher cold cranking current. But even so i'd probably will expect it to be a bit higher than 150A tbh.

Im pretty sure 197's will have a replaceable fuse, probably best to get someone off here to see what rating their's is. You wont go far wrong.

thats the prob though isnt it, if it isnt marked on the loom etc, then what do you replace it with, you shouldnt really just guess at a fuse rating as its obviously their for a reason, i had a diesel Koleos the other day which had a similar setup but the fuse on that was marked @ ~ 500A

i cant remember what the rating is on those CAL1 and CAL2 fuses that im thinking of, possibly 250A not sure

Yes but as said, diesels draw much more on startup with them having higher compression. The closest thing to yours is probably a 197 mate.

Get someone with dialogys to look up the fuse for a 197, dialogys should give you the ampage rating.

ill have a look on Monday, i work in parts thats why im asking, might save customers some money in future if we have a solution/alternative to using a full loom

  Skoda Fabia vRS
yup, im forever asking our lot questions cos all we get in parts is part numbers and prices, no tech info as such, and i like to know what im talking about lol
