FAO those with v maxx coilovers

  182 and cherokee 4.0
hi all.

just had mine fitted today and when i went to re-fit the rear strut brace i found the threads that stick out of the top of the strut are not long enough for the nut to bite back onto when the strut brace is in place.

is it ok to remove the rubber bits etc from the top and just fasten it back down? anyone else had this problem?

also it is rubbing like hell at the minute, do you suggest i just remove the arch liners? what have other people done?

thanks,

tony.

vmaxx arn't designed to be used with a strut brace unfortunately.

if it's rubbing then raise it!

The fronts go out so stupidly low, I dont know who would ever be able to run anywhere near the lowest coils tbh. Im 70mm up from the bottom of the coils and the front is still well low.

what happens if i remove them? is there no way of getting a rear strut brace on with these coilovers?

you removed all of the liners completely? not got messy as someone else suggested?

cheers :)

mine's been stripped too and the back is as low as it will go and isn't as low as i had hoped, the front isn't as low as it could go but is a bit too low i think! grrr

bump stops prevent your shocks from bottoming out if you have a heavy load in the back. not really. car gets cleaned 3-4 times a week so not really an issue.

I've read on here that removing the arch liners completely at the front leaves a risk of hitting one of the belts. I just cut a portion of mine away. You'll see a noticeable bump in the archliner at the front side of the front arches. Just get a junior hacksaw and cut the bit that goes around the bumper bracket (it cut through it easier than a knife through cheese!). Then either bend the lip of the bracket up or angle grind the lip off.

Worth doing as my 205 width tyres rubbed so bad on these. Put 195 on the front and raised a few mm and its all dandy. Think I might be able to lower more so will do so in time. My front left hit the bracket and bent it down so far that I couldn't even do a quarter lock without scrubbing, had to bend it back up in my work's car park.
