This is the reason I wanted fresh from Japan... 19 years and 80,000 miles, yet more solid than a 3 year old low mileage UK car...

And then it has been undersealed, I'll be adding to this later on by doing the chassis rails/any other cavities with Dynax.

Each to their own, but I'd sooner buy this than the cack most people pay £7.5k for. At least this will gain value.

Just seems A LOT of coin for what it is.. I can appreciate it for the potential in it, but for a car that's 19 years old with 80k on the clock it seems a overpriced.. As others have said tho, fair play to you for having the minerals to run it. Is it a daily or have you got another car?

It's cheap for what it is, bearing in mind the actual car was only £4.5k in Japan, the rest is taxes, shipping, making it UK legal etc and JM's cut. You'll not find one much cheaper than what I have paid anyway, and if you do it's been here for years, been modified poorly etc.

It's a daily for the time being, need to buy a rotter for work really, hate the fact our car park is right under a Gypsum conveyor and it just ruins cars.

You have a 200 that'll be worth 7.5k in 2 years, how do you feel ;)

You can't just value a car on its age and milage. Look how much Mk.1 Escorts and Cossies go for.

MK1 Escorts are a different kettle of babies IMO, they are instantly recognised whereas the older Jap stuff isn't unless its the likes of a 240 Z - again all IMO.

As above, i appreciate it for the potential it has, i personally wouldn't/couldn't drive it for various reasons but its all down to personal preference and situation.

In honesty, i probably won't have the 200 in two years time.. Considering in the last 12 months i've had 4 cars as i'm in a position to change my car whenever i feel like it.. ;)

I'd say most car enthusiasts would instantly recognise an R32 GTR. Joe Bloggs. I couldn't care less, all they need to know is something unknown has left them behind.

Well fair play, i can also appreciate that too, i'd have a huge grin on my face in that situation too. All the best with it :)

Of all the models of Skyline, the R32 is my favourite. Such a functional looking car. Been considering one for about 3 years and never had to bottle to go through with it. Been building a friends R33 back up from an engine failure over the last few years, something that was meant to be a forged engine running slightly more power on standard setup. Then turned into a massive build. Single turbo etc etc

For those who know, skylines are an icon, and should increase in value if kept mint.
The other day I saw a stripped out R33, not really mint, but to others it was a clapped out car that made a racket, until it left behind a M3 V8...

True story??

What power are these as standard? Sorry if its been mentioned. I assume they are fairly easy to get big power out of?

They make more than book of 276bhp at the fly, more like 300-320. Of course, the 4WD system = bigger losses, but crucially this can run 100% rear power split (and is the computer's preference), negating some of the loss.

Breathing mods, boost up to
1 bar (stupid ceramic turbo wheels can't take any more) and appropriate mapping supposedly provides circa 400bhp at the fly.

I believe the kerb weight is 1430kg. Mine will be the heaviest of the bunch as the early cars were a bit sparse in terms of sound deadening/crash structures etc.

When a cars like these runs "RWD" though, do you still loose something to spin the other diff and ancillaries?

Its the way these cars put that power down though, which matters.

Have fun :D

I'm not sure thats the case. I know there's no damage done to an R32 when running 100% rear, compared to an R34 (not sure about R33s) which will damage the transfer box.

I've not really read up on the system, but it sounds like it can disengage fully, thus negating the need to turn any power back through another turn for no reason, hence no damage. I might go read about it now.

EDIT: In the 32, you have a conventional RWD layout, with a transfer case on gearbox. The front wheels take drive from a computer controlled clutch inside that case, so it sounds like the full thing will be disengaged. Interestingly, the computer is programmed to oversteer, rather than promote the understeer conventional AWD systems suffer from.

I think he's running late to collect it. Judging by his Facebook, his lift has overslept! Lol!
