Get you home foam!

Well it doesn't does it. Useless stuff.

Coming back from "up North" on Saturday with Fred, we stopped off at y0z2a's parents to get something out of the garage. Just before we left Fred noticed my front left tyre was flat.

So we filled it with a can of tyre foam. It didn't even touch the hole and it continued to leak air rapidly.

Luckily Kwik Fit Stafford had one PE2 in stock (at a price) so we limped over to Stafford stopping 3 times to top the tyre up with air.

Anyone actually had any success with the foam?

Never use it. its shite.

Plus it really pisses off the tyre guys!

i need to get a spare for my Megane and lose the spray cans, never needed them so far but don't like having to rely on them.

I was VERY lucky that Kwik Fit had a tyre. If they hadn't had a tyre it would have meant getting the AA to take my car home for me.

i managed to pump the whole 2 cans in when i had a flat. its crap. it leaked every where too.

How can they say its ok to use instead of a spare wheel then ? bloody stupid if you ask me !!

This isn't meant as anything to do with Honda vs. Renault, but I'm fairly sure the CTR repair kit actually includes a 12v compressor to get some pressure in there after you shoot your load inside the tyre. Perhaps this is what's needed with the Clio.

I will try and confirm that what I said above is actually true

EDIT: yeah you do get a compressor with the kit. Might be worth Clio owners picking one up from halfords or something :)

Did you rotate the tyre so that the puncture was at the bottom.. ? eg the foam would run to the bottom and fill the gap ..

We had a pump, but that was useless as the tyre wasn't sealed.

We did exactly what it said on the side of the can Chris.

A spare in the boot would have meant we wouldn't have had anywhere to put the eibachs.

:(

Damn.. I dont carry a spare.. just two cans of get me home.. or I guess not so much get you home...

Luckily I have an excellent RAC card !!

They should have just included a space saver spare wheel instead. My Punto had one, and weighed hardly anything, and was only about 135 wide I think.

Not the same system, the honda uses a silicone based liquid that reacts to air pressure, hence the compressor. http://www.conti-online.com/generat...ral/extended mobility/conticomfortkit_en.html

DO NOT use tyre foam with a compressor, it makes a mess.

Bit useless on a 182. no well.

There's nowhere to put one in a 182 as the exhausts are where the spare wheel well should be.

I wonder if the heat didn't help the foam set?

Once you've used foam the tyre is a write off Vicky. We had no choice, the hole was pretty big. I couldn't drive more than 5 minutes without having to stop for more air.

it was about 10mm from the edge, and by the time we made it to the tyre place the tyre was destroyed (sidewalls)

Oi, my car is perfect at the moment. Now I've fixed the boot catch there's nothing wrong with it at all, and it's flying.:D

Plus, if it's that broken you'll be walking to Goodwood. ;)

The wedding reception was great. An excellent night. Felt rough Saturday though.

all right, keep yer hair on - the other day the exhaust was still falling off as well ..... :quiet:
I'll take my none-broken Trophy to Goodwood if that's how you feel .... :nono:

  clio v6
brilliant stuff.... used it twice...the 1st time was a nail in a new tyre...i did 6ooo miles and 2 track days on that tyre with the foam in it!!

you have to drive it for 5 miles before it seals the hole.

Yes, I know that, I meant that they should have designed one in or possibly designed the exhaust to allow for a shallower wheel well.

It turned out to be the boot catch.

Yeah we did that Clarkie. Went for a drive as soon as the foam was in. We kept driving round the dual carriageway so we were close to the Shell station to check the presure later. The foam didn't set in over 2 hours!!! When they took the tyre off it was just liquid.

yeah was top! i can almost understand northerners now! ;)

Bonus, although I had no idea what you were talking about though, sounded just like an episode of Crossroads
