Got my first rear wheel drive (swedish content)

  Money pit
Hi to everyone,
I've never actually posted anything on here before, so why not start with a project thread lol.

My first car was a 1.2 Clio Dynamique and I loved it to bits haha, but then i went to JDM Allstars and everything changed. I wanted rwd ;)
So from this...

ovlov

I bought this...
ovlov

A 1.4 Volvo 340 :S

It seemed like a good buy at £750 with 45k on the clock and no rust...
But then after a week of owning it the exhaust fell off, the clutch is pretty much gone, and its needed a new carburettor :(

Anyway future plans are...
-new exhaust
-new clutch
-slam it
-new wheels
-stickers
-1.8 16v engine (maybe)

What do you all think?
Greg.

he only says its stupid because he doesnt want u going sideways, u wont get it sideways at all until its got a welded/lockable diff.
and yeh near marple bridge, live in city centre atm but my mums house is in compstall

  dci1.5 look RS
put some michelin energy saver tires, and i'm sure you go sideways even when you don't want to! ;)

  Money pit
nah, he was saying it would just understeer round corners when your not trying to go sideways. kind of know what he means lol
yeah thats it used to drive through there to get to manchester when my girlfriend lived in marple lol

yeah that's it apparently the valver engine is a pretty much straight swap...just need some funds :(

my old 340,

bought it as a 1.7 and after that died i put a 1.8 16v motor in it. the mechanical side is really easy, and wiring wasn't too bad either. you will need 1.7 bellhousing, prop and some other bits.

woah some of those look nice!

ahhh love that colour pug_92, might have to find a couple of donor cars then :)

tadaaaaa done it :)

yesterday painted my grill matt black, and then hit something last night thats all over my bumper :(

and also stuck this on :rasp:

this morning i went out and bought one of these
9.jpg

because i was sick of the stupid volvo jack and i wanted to trial fit my new wheels...

I bought 6 rims (Weller steels 13"x7") two of which had knackered tyres on, two with ok tyres, and two with brand new tyres. and then two more new tyres for spares :D
They were white to begin with and i decided to spray the two bald ones orange for cough.drifting.cough and the rest black. but ran out of black paint so for now...

they've got a slight bit of stretch too which is cool.

and then the final two ready to be sprayed...

before anyone says it, i know it looks stupid because of the ridiculous arch gap.
but i'm trying to order lowering stuff this weekend so should hopefully be slammed 3 inches next week

c+c welcome
greg.

Even dropped 3" there'll be a ridiculous arch gap! That sticker will blend in well over on Driftworks, as will the wheels TBF!

haha didnt realise i had the driftworks colour scheme goin lol

an after havin a little measure with a ruler, there will probably be about an inch gap after lowering.
but tbh any lower than 3inch an it'll be literally sitting on the ground haha.

cheers for the good comments guys

Bloody hell, must be some low ass components underneath then! You going to any DWYBs?

I know! its the front sump guard and exhaust that are goin to be the problem.
just putting those small wheels on has made it scrape the whole way down my lane lol
an maybe yeah, once i've got clutch sorted out ill give them a go haha

Springs + Angle Grinder = Sorted
mate i am so close to doing that lol

  Money pit
LOL @ VIP stickers! Will look pretty cool when lowered...

haha i think i might take the VIP bit off. too many people don't realise its a micky take lol

and slight update...

decided not to cut my springs etc. cause i've found someone that offers like a full drift setup for the little ovlov : fully adjustable dampers, 3" springs and lowering blocks :)
just got to wait for him to get the 3" blocks machined, could be up to 2 weeks :(

literally can't wait. always wanted a car proper slammed :rasp:

My great grandad had one of these.

I can't say i'd ever want to own one but it has got potential for the drift scene. Needs boost!

  Money pit
Where did you find them? They dear?

erm the dampers are £120 a pair, and all together it'll cost about £350 Inc. Delivery. So quite expensive really.
And there from classicswede.Com
Should improve the handling too:approve:

haha well the engine in it at the moment is the Renault 5 turbo one but with no turbo.
Some guy on the volvo forum has put a turbo on it an got bout 200bhp lol

is that on the v300m forum? can't remember my login can't be arsed gettin new password either, it was a chap off there that bought my one. £350 is a bit steep, mine was lowered on 2" lowering blocks from peter lloyd rallying, and originally on chopped springs.i bought it like that  but put a old set of g40 springs and refilled the shocks with heavier oil.

good luck with the project, whatever you do don't take the heater out winter was painfull had to spray inside with de icer lol

These could become the poor mans Mk2 Escort, which is pretty cool.

It's as ugly a sin, but I bloody want one.
