henrys ek9 thread.

  S2000 + E91 330D
Hey guys, I thought I would bring my ek9.org thread onto here.
Quite afew of you understand why people spend thousands and thousands just to keep their ek9 looking fresh.
Firas, his thread alone, has showed me that an ek9 deserves the best.

Basicly, my ek9 has seen better days. She has a slight two tone approach to her Championship White.
Also, she was not under sealed until I purchased her. Which left her open to the elements, as well as slight bubbles of rust are appearing on the rear arch.
She's currently off the road and has been replaced by a lovely little 106 1.1

Here's my plan to get her back to her former glory!

Remove engine, gearbox and ancillaries - Degrease engine/box, and paint block/head/gearbox and get a refurbished cam cover.
While engine is removed, respray the whole engine bay - Championship White.
Mild wire tuck. - Headlight wires etc
Remove bumpers/skirts.
Find any parts which have rust/dents/damage and repair them.
Send the car for a full respray - Championship White.

This list will no doubt change slightly, but there is my overall plan.
I'm fairly competent with most things, mechanical/electrical, so I'm hoping I can do most of the work myself.

Updates should be coming soon when I start to strip her down!

Had a few hours on the 9 today.

Bumper/Skirts removed.
Wings removed.
Lights removed.
Front suspension out.
Drive Shafts uncoupled from hubs.

I'm hoping to drop the engine/box out tomorrow!

---------------------------------------------------------------

Ended up going mountain biking this morning, but that didn't stop be getting the engine out!

Degreased + First coat of paint.. Not looking too bad!

I took a few closer pictures of the engine bay "grime" lol.
Be warned, it could put you off your food.

Update;

After cleaning the engine bay and giving it a damn good polishing.
I've decided that the only part of the bay that needs a respray is the very front where the radiator sits! Cleaned/painted a few more parts on the engine.
Got the car outside today and gave her a clean underneath!

Sorry no pictures! (I always forget my camera)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another weekend, another morning working on the ek.

Gearbox oil turned up!

That's as far as I've got! Should be booking her in for respray at the end of this week.
Ordered a few pretty things for her;
White Radiator Hoses
Blox Purple LCAs (Will replace blox bushing with Henrys custom machined bushings)
Vtec solenoid cover
Will get some pictures up when they arrive!

Enjoyyyy!

Sweeeeeet!
Good work that mate, keep it going.

Ek9's deserve that kind of looking after!

Cracking work mate. This is going to be a seriously clean ek9 and will be keeping an eye on how this progresses.

Seems like its going to be a geat project... EK9's seem some of the most pampered cars out there from all the threads I've seen.

Had the windows removed this morning ! All came out beautifully! No cracks, no nothing
smile1.gif

The guy was very professional and had them out in no time. Charged me £60 to remove all 4, and then he said he'll want another £60 to put them back in. Which I thought was a fair price.

The cars booked in for the respray on Monday, so this weekend I'll be getting the parts ready to send off with the car!

Looks good dude! I'm a big fan of the EK9, would love to get one at somepoint. I had a DC2 before my current 182. Those B series engines are amazing eh!

Oh well, I'm in no rush :)

Looks like it was pretty clean already even behind all the trim etc. You suffering some fade/discolouration or just losing chips and small imperfections?

As you can probably see from the above pictures, the doors are a different colour to the rest of the body.. I think it had the doors resprayed before I had it. It's also got a few stone chips here and there..

I was looking at it on the phone but on a descent sized screen I see what you mean. So long as your bodywork guy is better with his painting than estimating on turn around it's all good.

Yeah, he's a top guy. Does quite a few nobles, tvr, etc.. My mate had his golf resprayed by him.. Took him 5weeks to get it back..
I'm starting to miss her though.. :(

It was my 21st on the 17th, my missus suprised me buy ordering me a Spoon rear view mirror :) Was supposed to be here, but because of the troubles in Japan, might take awhile..

Wow, I actually miss my car a lot. I want it back so I can put her all back together! Infact, that reminds me, I need to make a list of clips etc, that I broke during the dismantling...
I really want to keep the standard wheels, but they stick in far too much! Been thinking about getting a set of 20mm hub-centric spacers for her, just to see how they look with a little more offset.
