Insurance thread for young 1*2 owners

I haven't renewed yet since I've owned the 182 (just changed cars on an existing policy so paid a few hundred extra), but doing a few preliminary searches the cheapest I've found is 1100 or so...it's not until January next year though.

Sky refused to insure me on one because of my age/no experience driving a performance car, and I've found Flux have been on the expensive side for me. I'll have similar to Will, except no points...is your postcode a 'good' one Will? Does claiming club membership help at all? What other quotes were you finding? I'm hoping a specialist can help me get it a bit cheaper, but on past experience I'm sceptical...

Just taken out a policy with Hic. 22 with 4 years ncb but 6 points. Lots of mods declared including a cage. £713 on a 182

Breamy, what does that cover? Is that TPFT + trackdays or do HIC offer "proper" FC road insurance now?

19, 2 yrs NCB. Postcode, mileage etc all in my favour: £1460
planned renewal, 20, 3 yrs NCB. Same ^^^: £1154
actual renewal having written it off, 0 yrs NCB. Same ^^^: £1884

Bell. Cup packs declared (yes, I did have to declare optional extras)

Moral of story: Do not crash your RS if you're young. You will be sad. You will not be able to afford to insure performance cars for another 2 years.

Re: Insurance. Fookers!

I've insured my 197 via Elephant, confused.com quoted me £1,400 online, phoned them, added two named drivers! Now it's £1,150 :) Easy peasy! Was well chuffed!!

Sorted out my insurance last week.

22, 1 NCB, 1 "at fault" claim against me, 0 points, Mum, Dad & Girlfriend named drivers. £550 with Elephant.

Last year £1680, £140 per month.
Just insured for £710 with Elephant.
Dearest mother has paid it off in full for me and I'll be paying her throughout the year.

Just got a renewal from Flux direct and they wanted £660 fully comp with 8000 mile limit, 4 years ncd and 4 years licence 24 years old. Not bad compared to the £800 I had last year but Admiral can do it for £630 so will probably go with them.

Has to be a wind up. Nobody with a brain of any capacity would pay eight thousand British pounds to insure a circa 10 year old Renault Clio.

£1800.00.... That's admiral, on a multi car policy fully comp my name. With both my parents on my insurance too both with stupid years no claims.. Sucks.

Was quoted £7000 for a 172 as well...

My windows also cost me more to insure than my exhaust and air filter, madness!

I'm calling b0llocks. There's no way on earth anyone would be f**king stupid enough to pay 8 grand on a car worth 2. Even on CS, people aren't that retarded.

£8K has to be BS.

No way on earth someone is paying that.

They must live in Basra and have more points than Man city.

  172 cup & GT-Four
ha, i recently bought a 172 cup, my previous car was a audi a4, i tried calling my current insurance company to change over the car, they told me that i couldnt insure the clio unless i was 30!?! (im 29) but they said that one of there brokers would get back to me...they did with a quote of £1500, it cost me less to insure a 9k 400bhp celica gt-four!! anyway fortunatly after telling my insurance company to politely do one, i managed to get it down to 400 fc :)

Elephant wanted £1800 for my renewal on a 1.4! Got a new quote at £1152. Got rang up and made a multicar policy at £850 Or so... Quite chuffed as I have 2 accidents and no no claims.

I checked insurance for a 182 and it's gone down* to £2400 lol
* down from £3200 for a ph1 172 lol

Anyway, going to save some money, get some no claims. Then try and get an RS next year :D

Edit: mods declared but I don't have to pay for them :)

£8,000 insurance on an old Clio, that's the second silliest thing I've read on this website. The first is using a bucket with an induction kit.
