Lancer Evolution Appreciation Thread

This rssprints white evo 7 by chance?
As @JON FOZ says - its the Holy Grail of Evo VI's - iirc, only 6 were ever registered in the UK. They were listed as being 320bhp, but I'm sure I read they were higher - towards the 340bhp mark. A result of utterly ruthless weight-saving - no boot carpet, no stereo, manual windows, etc. Not a particularly fast car, but a bloody quick car.

Gaz's was up on the ramp when I was there - complete with the yellow RS Sprint arrow decal on the rear doors. It had been freshly painted, had all the brake lines and suspension in place and was due to have the engine fitted not long after. It was a complete restoration, but he was still going to use it. Good lad!

I sadly no longer have it although I had it a very long time. It just wasn't practical for my daily commute by the time I'd finished with it.

I remember when that was up for sale around 2011/12?... it had the Tomei titanium exhaust on it didnt it?

Yeah, Bob at Dynotech said they could get Miltek in no problem but even with a decat I doubt it would be much if any louder than the super dragger. Don't get me wrong, the car is not quiet even with the cat in currently. If you're going to fit a jap can, you might as well do it properly lol

  A special one.
Looks like i may be returning to Evo ownership very soon  ... I've not bonded with the Pulsar as i expected, so decided to put it back up for sale (https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/nissan/pulsar/nissan-pulsar-gti-r/7222305).

Currently in talks with Ant @ Indigo GT to have his stop gap car off him in a p/x deal with the Pulsar... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mitsubish...928451?hash=item3d39df1d83:g:-TYAAOSw-3FZCMly

Got a couple of nice additions to the standard setup
That Pulsar is lovely mate, the last lot of pictures didn't do it justice at all. [emoji41]

Thanks Scott... to be fair the last lot of pictures were pretty crappy. I spent a day on it at the weekend giving it a once over with nothing more than a bit of elbow grease, back to black, and some Meguiars rapid detailer.

I took it to my trusted local mechanic who's been a Pulsar owner for over 8 years to diagnose a low hum/vibration over 60, and when he put it up on the ramp, he said he has never seen one as tidy underneath, and that i'm mad for not keeping it in storage to appreciate. I think that's one of the reasons i've not bonded with it... it felt wrong to go out and drive it putting miles on the clock. I had great intentions of modding it up (subtly) up to around 300bhp with some suspension and braking additions to support, but i just cant bring myself to mess with it. If i was in a better position, i would definitely be putting it away for storage, but its not feasible at the moment, so moving it on.

That Pulsar must be one of the best kept left in the UK surely?

The FQ360 seems cheap tbh
Yep it was in great condition.... right up until the point where i found out it was a f*cking CAT C !!! a chap interested in buying it bought it to my attention, so when i quizzed the guy i bought it off, he says he had no idea and that he still thinks its worth £8k at least. Eitherway, the car is sold now and good ridance! i've lost a fortune on it though!

That Evo is cheap due to the service history being really patchy on it, so much so that i decided to steer well clear of it! I'm on the hunt for either a decent Wagon with a full bill of history, or an 8/9 saloon. Most Wagons don't seem to have any history at all being imports, a bit like this one which is IMMACULATE and i've been given an asking price of £14k for it, which is cheap when you compare it against other Wagons currently for sale - http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=516504 . I'm not really keen on buying such a mint car like that though and exposing it to the crap on the roads in the winter as it will be a daily. Ideally id like a nice tidy UK FQ340 MR like yours @Silent_Scone but in the gun metal grey colour, or a 9 FQ320, 340, 360 etc...

Hold on, the Pulsar was a Cat C?
Yep... all my own fault in hindsight for not carrying out a UK HPI check, but i was completely thrown by this guys reputation, along with the pictures, and detailed for sale description he sent me. It didn't even cross my mind to carry out the HPI check as i would have thought he'd know about something so serious and told me. He swears blind he knew nothing about it as its all completely straight and true... panel damage on these wrote quite a few off so im told once i revealed to the Facebook community about this cars unfortunate past.

Does happen on occasion, but once you've made that mistake - you don't do it again. A long while ago a friend of mine bought an 200SX S14 that had very low mileage, only a couple of owners. It was a really, really nice example for the time. Only when he came to sell it, someone told him it had been written off. We reckoned it may have been a finance scam at some point when it was new.

my friends just bought this Evo IX FQ320 in Ruri Blue
its a nice car but its confirmed to me the only evos id genuinely want and genuinely would buy would be a 6 or a TME
been tuned by a Scottish company called Wallace performance to the usual 400hp spec, intake, exhaust, walbro, decat.
straight line performance is epic but cornering and handling wise it feels a bit tired, what do you lot recommend to change?
also hes wrecked it Imo by deoranging the lights and painting the badge red

Tired? compared to what?

Might be the shocks, they don't tend to last long. Change all the lower bushes

He just keeps going on about it feeling tired like feeling rolly and bad for understeer, he's come from a decently specced vxr but I would've thought the evo would piss on it handling wise

Completely agree, I've wanted an Evo 5 since I was a teenager but what genuinely scares me about older Evo's is the rust now.. I can deal with mechanical repairs no worries. I was down at Mitsi Art in Portsmouth a while back and he was telling me that a good portion of his business is replacing rear metal work on E5/E6's  now, chassis rails, X member and boot floor.
