Light Correction Detail - Black Gold RS Clio 182 - RaceGlaze Black Label!!

  Megane R26
This one has been booked in for a few months after a number of personal recommendations, but had to be rescheduled to yesterday. Black Gold is one of my personal favourite all time colours to work on as the transformation can be incredibly impressive...

Please excuse my limited 'wash process' pictures as it was raining very heavily!

Befores:

The wheels, tyres and arches were treated first with Smart Wheels and G101 with various brushes, then followed up with IronX to remove the pitted brake dust safely from the clearcoat on the wheels:

Next the car was foamed with Grime Out to begin to break down the dirt on the paint:

Surfex 2:1 and Valet Pro brushes were used to clean the more intricate parts around the car:

Next the car was rinsed again and treated to both IronX and Tardis, which don't make for great pics on black! This clean MF was used to remove the tar residue (not much present!)

Next the 182 was moved inside and clayed with Auto Finesse's clay and Optimum Instant Detailer as lubrication:

Next up the car was dried with a combination of towels and compressor. Then the paintwork was assessed for thickness and defects were assessed under various lighting:

After trialling a few combinations, I found something I was happy with correction wise, but it was leaving a slight hologram behind so I knew this would turn into a 2 stage polish... :buffer:

50/50 (not refined, under halide)

Some of the deeper stuff remains (two scratches in that pic) but this is a single day light correction...

The headlights were also in a bad state, as tends to be the case on Mk2 Clio's. Unfortunately time was running out so the results aren't perfect but are certainly much improved:

Mercury was used on the exhausts (50-50)

and followed up with the forthcoming Britemax Nano Metal Sealant:

I have been testing this Nano Sealant on my own exhaust with amazing results! Carbon deposits which used to cake on within a day, now simply wipe off with no effort at all - something which I've needed and wanted for a long time - definitely one to watch!!

Before adding protection, BriteMax BlackMax was used to refine the paintwork to knock out the very slight hologramming which was left from the compounding stage!

Black Label came out to play again so that I could see the results on black...

Curing:

DSC07008 by RussZS, on Flickr

I finished with:

- NEW Auto Finesse Tyre Gel on the tyres
- Auto Finesse Crystal on the glass
- Auto Finesse Revive on the plastic
- Auto Finesse Mint Rims on the wheels

and finally, some afters!!

Great beading from the Black Label!

Unfortunately the beading and rain ruined the Tesco pics!! :wall::lol: The beading made the car appear grey, which is a huge shame as the car looked dripping wet when it was dry.

Here are a couple from Tesco though:

Superb work Russ. What polish combo did you go for? Hard paint as usual?

Really nice finish... indoors.

I'd have been tempted with a Z2/Bos combo on Black or Shield/Bos. Really love the show look Bos gives. Not ideal for durability right enough!

Russ I think I love you  Shame to pull her out in the rain!

Awesome beadage going on with the Golf too :approve:

Car looks amazing. Great job!

Bit off topic here but can anyone comment on the exhaust this car has. I believe it looks like a scorpion 192 but might be wrong. It looks like the perfect size and fit. Heard that it has a nice sound but not to loud which is perfect for me.

Russ, can you recall what pad/polish combo you used on this? My car has a similar level of swirling so needs a good going over.

I was going to use something like PO203S on an Orange Hex pad?
